Cabin filter noise
I replaced the cabin filter myself and I screwed up somehow. Has this happened to anyone? Is there a solution to fix this. I'm really pissed at myself. I'm trying to avoid taking it to the dealer. They're going to try and charge me a diagnostic fee of $100 or more. I made a video on my phone and uploaded on youTube so that you guys know what I'm talking about. Also turn the volume down because the noise is loud and annoying. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, either the actuator is broken or it just popped off. Hold on, I just saw a thread today about how to check/repair this. Otherwise, it's a pricey repair at the dealer.

Try this...in some cases the arm is just popped off the spindle and you can just snap it back on.

Ouch, that's a painful lesson because it lists in the owners manual the prodedures how to replace the filter. If done properly, the door does not need to be up because the filter is already up, all it needs how is to simply slide it out with your fingers, change filter, and slide it back in.
When I did mine, when I got my car new, I swapped the stock air filter and put the carbon one and read the instructions as per the manual - done in an out less than 5 minutes.

I'm thinking of placing a sticker on that door to say Do not open, place in recirculate mode. Because one day a shop might go in there without you asking to see if they can gouge you on a cabin filter replacement, but they might force open the door and break it. Well actually going off that other guy's Dealership SCAM - busted. thread, they don't even inspect the filters before trying to gouge you on a replacement, so the positive part is it keeps fumbling hands away from that fragile door...
Anyway, this thread will probably help you fix it:
DIY - for an oops moment. Tried to replace cabin air filter without setting to circ.

Anyone replacing the cabin filter be careful very very careful. Don't make the mistake I made. My car is at Lexus for repair or replacement of the servo motor for the cabin filter housing. My loaner car I got is an ES350. This car is big inside and out compared to the IS and has less power than the IS.
