Default Dammit! Expensive day/tire change

left home and the low tire warning light came on again. It was just 2 days ago that I pupmed them all up, so I knew it was eomething. Decided to head to Discount Tires where I had the Goodyear GTs put on. They found the soft tire (32) and plugged it. In the end, the plug would not hold and after only 28k on the tires, they were getting low on thread. In the end, they gave me some credit on the tire that could not be repaired and I had Kumho Ecsta put on (+1). Came to $611. Since I was stuck there, I could not shop. I guess even if I could get it cheaper, it would not be by much. The price included replacement insurance.

But crap! An expensive day none the less. He was pushing for Contis (not the Extremes) and that would have been $800.

Craps!!

It is true that is I just install a new tire or a mismatched tire, it could ruin my trans?

$600 is cheap for tires, be lucky it was only that much (though I'm assuming this was for stock sized tires)

after one of the OEM bridgestones popped on the front drivers side, the tire seller told me the same thing, that I have to change both sides of the tire. I am assuming he is right to say it can ruin the tranny since most other sellers say the same. I guess I am lucky since AWD carfs have to change ALL 4 tires.

Stock IS Tires are no joke...ive had my originals replaced ran me about $900..since then i had my fronts replaced $400...these tires are no joke. We are all better off buying 20" rims and tires because I have found that 20" tires are cheaper then these stock ones so basically you have to spend some money now in order to save down the road haha...and yes everyone has great feed back for online shopping for tires but when you have a blowout or you tire is shredding you dont have the luxury of looking online..we need them replaced now...today!

I asked my lexus tech and service advisor and they said they have never had someone come in with a transmission issue on the 2IS due to not having all the tires replaced. Now if your replacing just one like the front left i would do both if they are already worn but if they have comperable life left then its not a big deal. I got lucky once and my local tire shop had a used G-Force tire that matched my set and the front had about the same life left. My tires will still pretty new but one front had a nail in a part of the tire that they couldnt fix. So I was good to go @ $80 mounted and balanced.

guys, you never go to the dealership for tires.

You also never allow a salesman to rip you off. Like this guy did.

I can get 4 tires installed for 488 on my local tire place's website. shipping, tax, mounting and balancing included.

Why expensive tires?? I dont know why.. *TSK TSK* I bought cheap tires because tires are waste of money.. Just buy Kumho, Nankang or something cheaper... Who care about name brand tires and tires can make it different??

^ that was a J/K LOL type joke right? Tires are basically the most important thing you can put on a car. They are what impact your stop time (not your actual brakes) and determine your handeling and road noise greatly. The difference between a Kumo and a Mich Pilot Sport are like comparing a turd to a diamond. However this OP did get taken you can buy 4 Hankooks for around 700 which are a good compromise between money & performance. Better luck next time! J3ffrey PM me where you get your tires bro!
