Default Sending unit for the speedometer?

I was wondering where the sending unit is for the speedometer. Is it in the diff like the Previas? Or in the transmission?

Thanks for any info in advance.

ABS ECU on the actuator is what sends a speed signal to the speedometer.

I'm not positive, but I think the ABS speed sensors are used for anti-lock braking only. The speedo gets it's reading from the output of the transmission via multiplex from the ECT module.

I could be wrong and will check it out tomorrow.

You are incorrect. The only North-American IS model that used a transmission speed sensor instead of ABS was the 02-05 IS300 M/T. All 2IS models use the ABS, as do most other current Toyota/Lexus models as well.

There you go then.

You're either a master tech logging into TIS remotely or gots yourself a personal AllData subscription. Which is it?

I work at a Toyota dealership, and yeah, I pulled the info from TIS.
