I have a 08' 250awd, i would really like to upgrade to the extra 100 hp a 350 comes with. I was thinking of the 350awd, but its damn pricey compared to what i paid for the 250awd, I was just wondering how 350 owners driving in the snow fair. My old car was a lincoln mark VIII, a rear wheel beast, and i legit could not make it up hills and would end up sliding down backwards lol. Any input would be appreciated

pretty difficult, but there aren't too many days of the year that it is horrible out. those days I either suck it up or just stay home. II don't have snow tires, but yesterday I was pretty tempted to get some. I get stuck a lot when I stop, the snow button seems to help but it by no means makes it easy.

If the hill has too much grade, it would not be worth the risk on on rwd/fwd/awd regardless.

IS250/IS350 RWD can handle fine in the know with the the proper tires. Make sure you can use the pedals techniques so you don't trigger the differential that it has detected a slip. Because it is open diff, if it slips, the other wheel that still has traction does not get power. Modding it to a true locking limited slip differential would make a difference.

My IS350 will never see snow but from I read,it really isn't bad in snow mode.Depends on the tires.My buddy Koz here has a '07 IS350 he bought new and commutes and says no problem.He has a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
Even with AWD,it comes down to the tires.

I drive my 350 with winter tires no problem. Thing about RWD with hills if there step and you stop well it hard to go forward. Considering this year we didnt really have much of winter in Ma. RWD is a much better option at least to me. Most of the time i drive with TRC off when it snow.

Last three winters I drove with sumner tires on a '06 rwd. My first dive on snow I got stuck on a tiny hill for which I needed to be towed because traction just kept kicking-in in all modes. Then I learned that if you treat her rough in a situation like that ( when traction control kickes-in, release gas quickly and press again quickly to make tires spin and repeat as necesary, kinda like drifting in slow motion lol) you can get by. Just get snow tires and you should be all set if you dont like to have fun :P

Joe ,that what i was thinking too. AWD is only 70/30, so it shouldnt be that much worse with snow tires and some knowledge of how to drive in the snow lol

Summers tires stink in snow and cold weather.The rubber gets hard and you lose traction for longer panic stops,loss of handling,bad wet weather traction,you go no where in snow and they wear faster in cold.

Last winter was nothing the 350 couldnt handle. I even try to pass the state trooper during a snow storm and he would not in life time let me pass him till he existed 20min later at 30mph hahaha...

dude... that takes some ***** lol. im really leaning towards making the move. My mom has an 06 avalon limited with a little over 300 horse, and every time i drive it i feel ashamed that my moms car can beast mine, lol. i think im making the step up

yea but i see your rockin an AWD, im trying to figure out if the AWD is worth the 5-6k extra or if a RWD 350 will be ok. the one im lookin at right now is just like yours, 11' SFP 350 AWD with 7.6k miles

I live in Central Ma. were you get dumped on by the storm everytime. Im yet to get stuck or have an issue. Proper snow tires"narrow" the better and a good driver make a world of a difference in a RWD.
