Exclamation IS interior wood trim scratches

Hey guys, I need some advice on how to remove hairline scratches from the trim on the Lexus IS250, i don't know the EXACT color but it looks reddish brown.

I think the wood has a clear coat on top or something that makes it shine. I've heard car wax will cover it up? is that true? Even so i want to get rid of them, not just cover it up?

Any ideas? Thanks!

If you can remove the scratched pieces this will be easier, but if not you can still do this in the car...it just might get messy. Depending how deep the scratches are will decide what grit wet sand paper for you to use. 2000 grit will take out light scratches. 1500 for a little more harsh scratches and 1000 for really deep ones. I would start with 2000 and if that doesnt take it out, try 1500. Once the scratches are sanded out, use a mini buffer or regular buffer to buff out the sanding. A rough cut compound will work well. If you dont have a buffer, one of those foam ***** you stick on the end of a drill will work too. Im a painter at a body shop so ive done this on numerous car and interior trim. good luck

There are a couple threads on this.... I believe the general conclusion is to get some "Plexus" Plastic cleaner protectant and polish. It takes out and covers up many of the scratches... but not all of them.

That's what I used, and I was satisfied with the results

Sounds like an excuse to wrap them with vinyl to me
