So we've got vehicles with this problem with both lowered, aftermarket suspension and those that are on a totally stock suspension. Guess its just bad luck. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Lol!

lol this is a crappy situation Gville350. Paying this much for luxury IMO the roof shouldn't be having this problem. Now I am wondering if it's worth having a dent shop to remove it?

I just checked out the sunroof access area and there is about 2" of room inside where the OE sunroof "wind deflector" rests when the panel is closed. It should be enough to get most of the dent up to normal. Anything more than that would require ALOT of work...headliner,A-pillar, sun visor, etc. And after all of that I'm not sure that there really is access to that exact spot from inside the cabin.

If I have an extra $50 to spend some day I'll probably have a PDR specialist work his magic on it; but until then, I'll not fret over it.

I am no structural engineer, but find it hard to believe that road conditions, hard cornering or a lowered car with a stiff suspension would case a dimple in the roof panel. Seems odd (clearly) that more than one person has this issue, but it still seems like a very unlikely place for a structural deficiency to show up. Then again, I am no engineer........ I am gonna be pissed if mine shows up with the "immaculate dent" one day! And is that Dynomat in Sffd103's ceiling? Nice! I so badly wish that I had done that when I did my install. Still gonna do it one day, just such a pain to pull everything back out to do it.

Keep in mind, even if you get a body shop to fix it, the frame is weakened and it'll most likely happen again.

Here are couple links to the issue when i did a quick search on google.

This is probably the best description I was able to find that describes this problem. I just had this issue happen to me recently when I ran over a rolling gas tank on the highway (long story). Anyway, I thought I only had to replace the tire on my car when I notice 2 dents around the sunroof area. When I took my car to the body shop to get it checked the guy over there told me that this is very common in our cars and he sees it frequently. He said that sometimes even if you hit a pothole you might get a dent in your roof.

Here's the other bad part about it, depending on how bad the pothole or whatever you hit was, you might also have parts of your headlights broken (like the brackets) and the hood/front fenders might have moved slightly and be uneven when compared to the other side. I had all these things happen to me, so I can take pics for you to see if you want.

Hope this helps.

When i got into a accident hitting a center island w/ my left side wheel. I had the exact same dents near the sunroof.

I wouldn't just fix the dent but go a bit further and check alignment of the frame and wheels.

This is exactly where high stress concentration would be to cause this dent, though. When you put a hole, or more roughly a rectangle, in a solid sheet of metal and contort it, around the hole/rectangle is where you'll see problems. And I am an engineer (not to be all high and mighty haha)

If this is a prominent issue, then I smell class action lawsuit. That is a terrible defect.

Funny you mention the broken headlamp bracket and mis-aligned fender, because I actually hit a good sized tree limb (3-4") in the road about a month ago on the passenger side only. Had to replace the passenger side front tire (BFG KDW) due to a bubble in the steel belting. Had to re-connect one of the HID fog lamp wire connectors from being pulled apart (not sure how that happened). Immediately noticed the pass-side fender was now misaligned where the fender meets the hood. And lastly noticed the pass-side headlamp bracket where it meets the fender was broken. BUT, after that whole ordeal there was NOT a dent in the roof. Only a month after did the dent appear. I'm lost!

Thankfully I don't see any dents on my roof yet.
But after reading this thread I have spotted couple of ISX50s with similar dents. Both were lowered though.

Quick Reply: Where the hell did this dent in the roof come from???
