Question Tire sensor indicator light

Hello all!

I am new to the Lexus family. I purchased my 2007 IS 350 3 months ago. Does that mean I own a second generation? Never heard the generation term until I joined the club. Previous vehicle was 2003 BMW 325i. About 3 weeks ago, low tire appeared on my dash, so I had air put in my tires and it went away. 2 weeks later, check system appeared with a red exclamation point and a symbol that looks like a bowl with an exclamation point in it. I had the pressure checked again and was told that the tire pressure was fine. They (non-Lexus specialty tire shop) checked my sensors with a handheld device and told me that my left rear tire sensor was bad. While installing the sensor the guy told me that he was having some sore of problem. Didn't quite understand what he was talking about, but I think he was talking about getting the indicator on the dash to turn off now that the sensor was on. He mentioned he thought the new sensor he put on may be bad, but the shop he got it from only had that one in stock. He said he may have to get one from the dealer. Anyway the indicator finally went off after they drove it around the block a few times. He said the new sensor is for my car but is a little different from the old one. He gave me my old one and told me if I had any problems to return. Needless to say, the next day, I'm heading out of town and the red exclamation and bowl with exclamation come on again. Can anyone offer any advice as to how I should proceed? I'm tempted to just take it to the dealership. Don't know what a lot of the abbreviations I've seen on here mean, so please keep it simple for me . Thanks

Someone else can answer this better but I can say

1) Try searching the forums, there are tons of threads on TPMS issues

2) Apparently (though I personally haven't tried it because my stock TPMS haven't failed yet) there are TPMS sensors on eBay for like $10 each that work fine with the 2IS (and yes, you have the second generation of the IS, the first was the IS300). So don't ever let anyone, Lexus dealership or not, charge you crazy amounts for replacement of a TPMS sensor. Someone on here recently got charged $500+ for it.

Yeah you own a second generation, the first one were the IS300 and IS200 from 1998 I think to 2005.

Okay I had this problem too, I also have a IS 350 2007. Is the temperature cold when you have a low pressure in your dash ? I know that when the temperature is cold the sensor say the tire pressure is too low and this problem get fixed after about 20 minutes of road when the tires are getting warmer, I think this is probably your "problem" in fact that's not really a problem.
