Default Shopping for an IS350

With the year coming to an end the need for a new car and Lexus offering pretty good rates for the December to Remember Event. I have decided to purchase a brand new car.

I have did some research and minor shopping around and this is what I am coming up with.

Want: 2011 or 2012 RWD SFP/Black Interior with Lux Plus Package w/18" + Navi

The pricing I am getting with the 2011 is:

MSRP: $46,249
Invoice: $41,726
Less: TrueCar $3,650
Total: $38,076
Not sure if this includes the $1,000 incentive since I am a current Lexus owner.
The only thing is that this is...Obsidian and I am pretty set on white. I know for me to get a good deal on this car, since it is a 2011, I will need to compromise some. The dealer did mention that another dealership ("out of state") has this car in SFP but I will need to pay an extra $800 for shipping (trade a car on their lot with the SFP).

The pricing I am getting for the 2012 is:
MSRP: $45,950
Invoice: 42,213
Less: TrueCar: $750
Total: $41,463
This won't come with the extra $1,000 since it is only offered on the 2011 model. Again, they don't have this car on the lot but probably easier for them to get since it is the current year model and no need for the $800 transport fee.

The price difference is ~$3,400, but with the $800 fee it will be ~$2,600. Is it worth paying the extra fee and a older year model for this price difference? Do you think they dealer can budge on the $800 fee.

Let me know what you guys think.

Is it possible to add factory park assist after purchase?

UPDATE: Seems like dealers are being difficult in trying to locate/obtain the 2011 for me. The dealers are pushing me to get the 2012. I got a quote from one dealer for $41K+TTL. Is that a good price for a 2012 with MSRP of $46,667?

UPDATE: So I ended up purchasing a 2012 SFP/Black Int + Lux Plus (18") + Navigation + Rear Spoiler + Preferred Accessory Package for $40,700. Good price?!? I am waiting for delivery sometime next week.

Id probably settle for the 2011 in white and pay the $800 transport fee. But I would not pay a few grand extra for a 2012 (use that extra cash for mods!). In the end it's your call, depends how much having the car in white matters to you.

I'm not aware of any differences between 2011 and 2012.

I'm sure you can bring the price down at least $800 on the 2011. I would just go with the 2011, 2012 models saw pretty much nothing extra over 2011 models. Might as well save the $3500 and put it toward mods =] The $1,000 extra incentive should be on top of everything else since i'm hearing the $1,000 incentive comes from Lexus corporate...so the dealer isn't losing $1,000 on the deal.

And on the note of the factory park assist - it will be very expensive to add this on later. If you really want the factory park assist, buy the car with it, otherwise you'll end up spending a lot more $$ and it will be a headache getting it installed afterwards

If you're pretty set on white, I wouldn't pick any other color that you might regret.

Like the others said, there aren't any major differences from 2011 to 2012. I would consider getting a good deal for a 2011 that you like rather than paying more for a 2012.

The current Lux plus package doest come with park assist? My '08 IS350 with the lux package came with everything but the ML system...

It can be easly added to the rear, but not so much the front... (the rears are only active when it is in reverse.. be non-factory sensors are always on in the front... and the sensor range and volume is not normally adjustable on the aftermarket sensors like it is on the factory ones.

The contents of the Lux package have never included park assist.

PA is a standalone option unrelated to any other option on the car.

(same with nav, and PCS when they offered it, which both have nothing to do with any other option package on the car)

(and yes, would be fairly difficult/expensive to add after it leaves the factory)

Thanks for the suggestions.

Get the '12.$5250 off list on a '12 is a good deal,IMO.
It'll be the color you want and the extra $2900 over the '11 will be probably made up when you sell, trade or God forbid, total the '12.

I was in the SAME situation a couple days ago in fact, and took advantage of their December deal.

I know how you feel with wanting the SFP, believe me I have been aiming to get white on black forever. When I finally sat down with the dealer and crunched the numbers, getting a '12 IS250 AWD in SFP would have cost me an additional $60 per month compared to a '11 IS250 AWD but in the Tungsten Pearl. I chose to save myself the money and settle with my second color of choice, which conveniently was the Tungsten Pearl (dunno why, but I LOVE how it looks at night)

I know white is the color you prefer, and if you're gonna spend this kinda money you definitely should get what you want; just be careful, it's REALLY easy to pay a lot more than what you budgeted for, simply by chasing a very specific package. Make sure to keep in mind a second color of choice at least

As long as you're happy dude, than you'll love it regardless. I chose the Tungsten Pearl and haven't looked back, couldn't be happier.
