Default Have you placed anything behind your license plate to quiet it down?

Throwing this question out there. Have any of you put a sound dampener behind your license plate? And/or something that won't let your license plate scratch your paint?
Has it molded yet?
I'm trying to find something that is weather proof and won't rot, mold, or retain water.

I'm about to install what you see in the video below and want to put something behind it to soften the blow that paint will see when I shut my trunk.

TIA

P.S. video can be seen in 720P HD

I don't hear it unless I shut my trunk. I hear it rattle just slightly then.

I tucked extra wire slack from my rear laser shifter behind the license plate. Now it doesn't even rattle when I close the trunk and it doesn't touch the paint. Not that it matters because the previous owner let it touch (and scratch) the paint.

Go to Lowe's and pay $5 for a roll of outdoor velcro.

clean the back of the plate and the paint on the trunk, stick the velcro to the plate, and the trunk. Then, stick your plate to the trunk. Lastly, bolt the plate back into place.

Worked on my 06 Civic, for 2 years.

Perfect and cheap. Thank you. We can lock this thread up if you wish. I'm gonna go grab some now. Never crossed my mind to buy that. Thanks again

No reason to lock it. .

Outdoor Velcro is perfect, it wont mold or hold moisture, its more coarse to allow water/air to pass through. And you never know when having a roll of rediculously strong velcro will come in handy. I keep it in the house now cause sometimes, you just need Velcro

I put felt all around the back edges of the license plate and in between the front edges of the plate and my license plate holder--now no rattle at all....

also it does hold up, the tension keeps it in place, even with virginia and colorado winters.
