I just went to o-rileys and bought led strip lights that can actually be cut into sections and pulled the tach needle and used clear silicone caulk to glue the 3 led section into the needle after pulling out toe old burnt out original .....pushed it back on and whoot a green illuninated tach needle.Tomorrow the rest get used as backlighting to make up for dim ccf tubes

@ chi123 do you still fix instrument cluster needles? Have you ever made a video? I am comfortable soldering and taking the dash apart but have never done needles LED

Here a video I found 2 years ago when I was going to do mine. Luckily I didn’t have to and got them replaced by lexus under my warranty. Hopefully this will help. Good luck!

Time to revive this thread!!

My 2010 Lexus IS-F needle burnt out.

The video I watched stated he used a GQ1206 Right Angle Blue LED which is now unavailable. I can't find any substitute. Took me alot of hours researching from Jameco, Digi-Key and Mouser. I guess I shall use a regular 1206 SMD.

1206 LED package specs
min-max voltage: 2.8-3.2V
dimension: L3.2*W1.6*H0.9mm

What Wavelength (color)
Blue wavelength is 450nm and i see packages with with 430nm (super blue) and 470nm to 475nm
