Hey guys, just an update to this thread,
I picked up steering control module 89650-53040 off the 2008-10 IS F and plan to install on my 06 IS350.
I'll let you all know if there's any difference between Power ECT and Normal
I'm really interested to figure out how much of a difference this is to either ecu below.
89650-53082 - 2011+ F-Sport
89650-53041 - 2011+ IS F

The ISF steering ecu has less steering assist, Jeff had them both

hey Alantjai,
Jeff couldn't test the difference since his car was a manual transmission and did not have the ect power button. However he seemed to think that it did stiffen up the steering more than normal mode, just like the ISF.
Perhaps the F-sport Steering Module does not tighten up steering, only the ISF versions do?

Just looked into it again, and I'm thinking it may be possible that using ECT PWR will in fact put it into Sport mode. At least, it's a possibility, the same pin is used on the Body ECU for both cars, and as long as it's using the same multiplexed signalling, the steering ECU may pick up that it has been switched to PWR mode and react to that.
EDIT: The "Sport mode" and "PWR" mode both trigger the same spot on the body ECU, which is the same on all 2IS models, so it seems like ECT PWR should very likely trigger the Sport mode in the IS F ECU.
I might have to try wiring a switch to that pin on my body ECU and see if I can change my steering feel... I don't know if anyone has tried to put a 6MT car into PWR mode before. I wonder if the throttle response might change like it does on the AT. That would be interesting, though I'm not really expecting it to. I will likely give this a shot tonight. If it works, I might throw an IS F Sport/Snow mode button in my dash.

I have a '12 IS250 F-Sport, and I cannot get used to the NON-F-Sport steering, it is a big difference, but I am pretty sure I feel a bigger difference because of the wheels and suspension, the F-sport steering is stiffer, and gives you a feeling of more control, when I drive the non F-sport IS250 I feel like I'm driving a camry, there is too much steering assist, almost to the point I feel the car turning completely by itself.
The steering feeling is what was standing between getting the IS or not, if it wasn't for the F-sport I would most likely have not gotten an ISX50.
In other words, in my opinion it would be worth the $400-500 spent on this mod.

When I drove an 07 IS, the drivers complained about the steering that there was a not enough feel (when IS first came out in 06), so from 08+ they re calibrated it for better steering feel. I got used to it but was not something that got my attention. When I test drove an 08, I notice the steering feel feel was better with the update.
The F-Sport steering is nice, since I have the 11 like you mentioned above with the 12.
