If you have the Sport Package, you already have this ECU.

Does it work with 06 IS350?

Is the F Sport feel the same as the 2011+ IS F?

Or the IS F is slightly better?

IS F is better, it's what I have in my car now.

I shipped my 2011 Sport ECU to Alantjai, and he is going to try it in an 06-08 car so we can confirm whether it works or not.

This thread is not a sport package discussion. It is only about the differences in the steering ECUs across the 2IS range. If you have sport package questions, search for an existing thread, or start a new one asking about it. Better still, you could always ask via private message to someone you believe might know the answer.

You installed the one in the pic? 89650-53041? Do you know if it changes with the PWR ECT setting? I'm curious and now I'll need to get one of these things to see if it resolves the wife's complaint. All the later model F owners say the steering is "better" so it might very well be the solution I need.

I've heard the 09+ IS can use the paddle shift even in D. You can use the puddle shift to downshift via you are in D instead of putting it into S mode like the 06+.

Do you know if the 06+ can change some kind of ECU to make this happen?

So you're just swapping out the ecu's without using the Techstream to calibrate it? I have an 06 IS and if the 11 ISF ECU makes that much of a difference, I want one! I think Sewell is selling them for around $420.

Sport package has larger wheels, different springs, shocks, rear suspension geometry, larger rear brakes, leather seats, power seats, sunroof and a different steering computer.

Yes I installed the 89650-53041 in my 2011, but I have a 6MT car, so I have no ECT button, but I would expect it would not change with that. We have confirmation that the IS F ECU will work fine in the 09+ ISx50, but we won't know for a bit if these newer ECU's are interchangeable with the 06-08 ISx50 until Alantjai gets his and tests it.

That's all controlled by the engine ECU, which may be able to be swapped out, but as it interfaces with many of the other car's components and controls many things, it may not work seamlessly.

Just looked into it again, and I'm thinking it may be possible that using ECT PWR will in fact put it into Sport mode. At least, it's a possibility, the same pin is used on the Body ECU for both cars, and as long as it's using the same multiplexed signalling, the steering ECU may pick up that it has been switched to PWR mode and react to that.

EDIT: The "Sport mode" and "PWR" mode both trigger the same spot on the body ECU, which is the same on all 2IS models, so it seems like ECT PWR should very likely trigger the Sport mode in the IS F ECU.

I might have to try wiring a switch to that pin on my body ECU and see if I can change my steering feel... I don't know if anyone has tried to put a 6MT car into PWR mode before. I wonder if the throttle response might change like it does on the AT. That would be interesting, though I'm not really expecting it to. I will likely give this a shot tonight. If it works, I might throw an IS F Sport/Snow mode button in my dash.

Jeff
