!!!!Transmission Oil change

Corollary to that is, "A clean car always runs better". If changing the synthetic oil at 5k makes you feel better, fine, but it isn't helping or hurting your car, it is only dinging your pocketbook.

I am always surprised, people talk about the carbon buildup of our engines and the design flaw, but also talk about going 5K-10K with the same oil...does not running your oil for soooooooo long contribute in some way to the carbon buildling?

5-10k isn't "long" at all for synthetic oil... (5k isn't even "long" for conventional oil). My previous car, which was making about 2x the power of the Lexus ones we're discussing, with an older, less clean-running, engine, ran perfectly for years with oil changes once a year using Amsoil, which is good to 25k miles (and Amsoil will replace your engine if it's not... in 30+ years in business they've never had to pay out on that promise, because there's no problem running good oil for a lot more than 5-10k miles).
This is why oil analysis exists. An actual lab analyzes your actual used oil and tells you its condition.
In every case I've ever seen, even conventional oil was still in good condition after 10k miles on a 2IS.
Seriously. UOA. It's science. It trumps anyones "feelings" on the matter of oil change intervals.

Yup, for conventional oil... 10k for synthetic (which is the factory fill starting with 2011 IS250s)
Mind you, those are still very overly conservative numbers based on all the UOAs I've ever seen... but you're changing your synthetic twice as often as even Lexus says to.

Most folks who've done 10k oil changes didn't change the filter and had good results...I don't think they changed the OEM filter to a different part for 2011 250s, which come with synthetic oil and run 10k between changes... so 10k seems to be ok for the filter.
personally if running synthetic oil into the 15-20k range I'd change the filter once halfway through however many miles in that range I planned to run it (so 7500-10k for a filter change).
If you were going to run a really good synthetic like Amsoil all the way up to 25k I might consider 2 filter changes at ~8k each.... though supposedly there's a synthetic media filter from TRD that works on the 2IS, so if you used that you're probably fine with only 1 change at 12.5k.

One more thing to add, a drain and fill is recommended for the Canadian '06 transmissions. I can check my manual for the millage but I think it is 100km to 120Km. And yes, it's only a couple liters, probably just "refreshes" the fluid.
