Default Extended warranty for IS (in Canada)

It's time for me to purchase my extended warranty. I kind of left this to the last minute lol but I found out I can't purchase my warranty from a US dealer as my car is Canadian, now I've searched but I can't find anybody selling warranty from a Lexus dealer for any good price.

Here's a price, I'm looking for the one in bold. Dealers here charge 2x+, any one know someone who I can buy factory extended warranty for cheaper? Or should I take the risk and just let the warranty ride it out and hope that I don't have to pay 2K when a speedo light goes out and the entire cluster needs to be replaced. I know it's a toyota, but when electronics go (like the nav) lexus parts + labour are outrageous. I'm thinking of purchasing because I'm going to keep the car to probably 250k+ which will mean another 4-5 years.

Anyone got an ideas?

Thanks.

Ya, those prices are pretty crazy ..... the best time to buy the extended is at time of purchase ..... they'll negotiate down then.

Instead of spending $2-3K now, open an account somewhere and just save that cash away .... pull it then if u need it. So many friends i know have bought one then sold the car after 3,4 or 5 years ........ You're just throwing money away in that case.

I personally would pass on the extended warranty .... my 2006 so far has no problems.

Hello Fellow Canadian lol

Actually, i got my extended warranty (ECP) for 7yrs when they had the foot pedal recall 1.5yrs ago, then they gave 1200 discount, ended up 1500 or something, plus I got 4 oil changes free.

There is some guy named Troy (Toyota dealer service mgr or something) selling extended warranty in states for Canadian cars, but I was not really sure how that works. Don't know many people with it. I did call up US Lexus, and they said the warranty won't cover, but troy said it will, who knows.

Remember, ECP doesn't cover NAVI, and AFS! But it is still worth it for resale lol plus mine was $1200 off total. The usual problem people get with navi, some guy on this forum figured out the fix by next 2yrs+, flyaudio will fix any outstanding issues so i can get that instead, OEM navi sucks

Call Toyota of Greenfield in Greenfield, MA, USA & ask if they can sell an extended warranty for a Canadian car. If they say no, ask them if they can recommend someone in Canada that sells at a discount.

That maybe a difficult one. Because Lexus/Toyota Canada and US are two different entities therefore treated like a different company even thou they are as one family by Toyota Motor Corporation.

Troy did not issue a warranty for Canadian cars. I never bought the car in the US and don't live in the US, so he said nothing can be done. I would have gladly paid the price that other US members here were buying extended warranties for because they're an absolute steal compared to the robbery (pun intended) that dealerships up here charge for the extra 2 years.

So I guess there's really not much us canadians can do in terms of getting ECP at a reasonable price? lol if not I guess I'll just let the warranty run out and hope for the best.

But as for the Canadian car, your car would probably have more stuff which are not available in the US. Ie. the front windshield deicer!!!
