Like IS250TW said, most of the gas stations are outside the downtown area and close to the border avenues of the island... I suggest you find yourself one close to where you are staying or go uptown

but NYC had gained their toll to the city two weeks ago....
It's $13 just to get into the city O___o! (from jersey....)

anyways.. driving in the city is such a PITA and mpg killer...
welcome to NYC..

(Join the NELOC BBQ! lol)
WTF!!! $13??? I left that thing at $8.5 not too long ago!! I remember when it was $4.5 damn...

Oh, how come you don't invite me to the BBQ? Ah? Ah? LMAO

Yeah when I bought my car, I purchased it online... The problem is... I live in Omaha Nebraska and the car was from Jersey.

I flew into NYC, took a shuttle to jersey airport... then I was picked up by the car company in jersey taken to the dealer... Got the keys and started driving....

KEEP LOTS OF MONEY FOR TOLLS, espcially driving on 80... I ended up spending around 30 bucks....

But overall good trip, my nerves were on end all 22 hours, just talk to as many people on the phone as possible (BLUETOOH OF COURSE)... tried to stop and sleep at a sleezy 50 dollar hotel off the interstate... Bad idea, I layed down wrapped in my coat for about 2 hours then I left it was so nasty...

Good luck, drive SMART...

Depending where in Manhattan you will be i know there's a gas station on the UES 1st ave and in the 90's ......... UWS 96st and Bway i think and by the Lincoln Tunnel there's a few as well 34th and 9th. Not a lot of options and quite expensive !!!! Good luck and be safe on the drive/trip !

Congrats. Sounds exciting, new job, new place to explore. I hope you keep track of your MPG to share with us. See if you can push 460 miles on a tank.

My car is pretty full of stuff and weighted down so not sure how the gas mileage is going to be!! I also looked up some non toll routes to try and avoid those :-)

Forget the toll money - get a EZ Pass. You can buy them in Mini-Marts and they come loaded with $25. Sign up on the site and it automatically refills when ever the funds drop down to the level that you select. It works for tolls all over the north east.

so I made it!!! It was the worst road trip of all time. Not because of the car thankfully :-) the lexus was great the whole way, fun to drive and very comfortable. I averaged about 28 mpg, I was going about 80-90mph though so I probably could have gotten better.
Unfortunately my bank decided to block my cards after using them at a few gas stations in a few different states because of the fraud protection. After I called and had them remove the block and told them I was driving across the country I figured I would be fine the rest of the trip. WRONG
I filled up one more time after that at about 5:30pm, and paid one more toll with the card after that. When it came time to get gas again it was 10:30pm in the middle of NOWHERE Ohio. I went to fill up, and surprise! Card was blocked AGAIN. Of course no one could help me when I called and so there I was stranded at a creepy gas station with no money for gas, a hotel, or even food. Worst night ever. I gave Wells Fargo a piece of my mind this morning. Anyway, thats the last time I travel without cash :-/

Glad you made it to the big apple! Remember, carry cash and find yourself a gas station outside downtown area. Learn the Alternative parking rules and the DriveThru rules... they change every so often so good luck staying on top of them.. Watch out for yellow cab drivers and suicidal BMW owners....
