Like the title says, I'm creeping about 80K miles on my 07 and was wondering when is a 'good' time to really take a look at replacing the clutch.

It can't really feel any slippage at all as the previous owners took care of the car from what I can tell, and I doubt they replaced it before I owned it.

So whens the recommended mileage on replacing the Manual tranny in these cars?

when it needs it.

there's no specific amount of miles to do it in like spark plugs or something.

It's like brakes, it will vary depending on conditions and driving style. Typically speaking, it needs to be replaced once it starts slipping or you are experiencing other driveability problems.

ye all depends on how you treat it... don't know to much about IS but on my old evo it went out at 10K but would track and take it to the drag strip and my STI lasted till i sold the car with 60K on it

128,000 miles on my tacoma's original clutch.

many tacoma owners go over 150k with the stock clutch.

I thought the 75k service was a good time to change the clutch. It also depends if you drive the city or highway more frequently.

Personally, if you drive in the city a lot, I would just replace it now.

why throw away money?

low HP car...a clutch should last 100k easy if you dont have terrible driving habits.

My GF's grandma is still on the OE clutch in her 89 Civic sedan with God knows how many miles on it. LOL!

When I first got my car, a local Lexus dealership told me I should checked to see if it was replaced yet. The car was at 49k at the time, and they said it usually goes about 40k-50k...I always thought that sounded way too soon, as my friend's '93 del sol is 250k on stock clutch, and I have a couple other friends that are way past 150k without clutch problems. I know it varies greatly by driving habits and the likes, but 40k?? I'm on 79k right now, and I didn't replace it yet.

Clutch is one of those things you just take care of when you start to feel it going out. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to take the clutch past 100k without any issues. I know many people that go beyond 100k on stock clutches. Unless your driving habits are very aggressive on the clutch, in which case i've seen clutches replaced at 30-50k even

Clutches are a wear and tear item, but their wear varies greatly based on driving style and a few other factors. I would never replace a clutch without symptoms that it is going out. It's just a waste of money.

plain and simple...don't waste your $ if you don't have symptoms. It's like changing your tires without any reason.

Mine has 105,000 on it and I'm 99% sure it's still on the stock clutch. I bought it with 100,00 on it. All the maintenance was done at the dealership and there is not a clutch replacement showing on the service history. My commute it 160 miles a day all interstate so I'm hoping I get a bunch of miles out of mine.

Thanks for all the replies,

The Main reason I'm asking is that someone mentioned to me that my clutch pedal releases too high and said I may need to replace the clutch soon, I don't experience any slippage at all when fully engaged and accelerating. They mentioned that when the pedal releases high eventually I'd start to feel slippage and I don't want to go there so it may be best to replace asap.

What do you think CL?

Mine releases high too. I thought it might be about time to replace but from reading on here it appears that they all do.
