Default '06 IS350 for $15,949...with 149,278 miles!

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...&&aff=national

Here is also the service history:

https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...=2&d-16544-p=1

Is it worth it?

I'm hoping to get a loan from these guys:

https://www.burbankcity.org/Loans/auto.aspx

^2.25% APR for 5 years isn't so bad.

The head lights need to be cleaned, and the service record history looks promising.

Only thing I need help on, is what would be a good price to get this for?

I'm thinking, if I get this car for $15,000 out the door (tax and fee's included), is this a good deal?

If I get it $15k financed for 5 years, that's $265 a month, which translates to $15,900 in 5 years.

Thoughts on this?

I would save your money and in the meantime save up. 150k is a litlte too high for me to be spending almost 16k.

You could get a nice is300 with that. Even better, is300 2zj swap!

Someone just found an 06 for 14k with only 110k miles. I think the price is a little high for something close to 150k miles

Lexus service history URL doesn't work like that. Best to copy and paste what is in the history here.

This tells me all I need to know. If you are looking for a $265/month payment for 5 years you need to be buying a new-ish Civic or similar. A 5 year loan on a car with 150k is absurd and I am surprised anyone would offer this loan for a $900 profit over 5 years.

If you are paying cash, offer 12-13k and it would be a good deal (based on 14k for 110k miles).

I wouldn't do it. 150k is too high to spend $15k man. I know the car will probably last ya...but go for a car with less mileage.

The car is located in Southern CA, and I know that everything here is more expensive then any other part of the country.

I think I'm just gonna wait, you guys are right. 150k is pretty high.

I don't even know if they'll be able to give me a loan or not.

Anyway, my bad if I wasted anyones time, but thank you all for your input on this.

ps, if the link didn't work, the VIN is located on the car link.

Wow.. 15k for a IS350.. the 2IS is becoming very affordable for the used crowd..

Seems like most of the OG on this board moved onto something else..

So you're going to finance a car with 150K miles for 5 years at $265 a month?
Don't do it guy.
Buy a new Civic or something for a couple of grand more or a late model CPO car.

Spending $15K for a this IS with 150K miles is nuts and financing it for 5 years is even worse.

Just my .02.

As has already been stated, that's way too much for 150k miles.

In most cases I'd do a search here to show you examples of cars that are better deals, but I only came up with one: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false. I think the main issue here isn't the "deal", but the fact that you're looking at a Lexus with 150k miles. Yes it's true that these cars are very reliable, and there are people on CL who have gotten well past 200k on their cars without major problems. But you're clearly on a budget and concerned about money, which means you likely will not be prepared when one small thing (gauge cluster, water pump) fails and it costs $1000-2000 to fix.

There are definitely people out there for whom a $15k IS350 would be perfect. Those would be people paying cash who either have DIY experience or cash reserves for potential repairs. It's absolutely crazy to think about financing a 5 year old car with 150k miles; it's a recipe for disaster. Like those above, you should instead be looking at a less expensive car like an Accord or Civic. Hell for not much more, you can get a brand new car.

This is a buyer's guide to the used 2IS, and it shows some of the common issues on these cars and how much they cost to fix: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...e-threads.html

It's funny you guys are telling him to get a new Civic instead. I traded my 08 Civic with 36,000 miles for my 06 IS250 6MT with 104,000 and gave $2,000 to boot. I don't regret it one bit. I only owned the Civic for 2 months. That's how bad I hated it.

I think the difference is it sounds like you weren't financing it, you had the cash to pay the difference and likely sit in reserves if something expensive came up. To trade a 36k Civic in for a 104k IS and have the cash to pay everything is very different than wanting to buy a 150k mile car with $15k of money you don't have.

No one on here is saying he'll like the Civic more than an IS. People are just recommending financial prudence and common sense. I have a 2007 IS350 I like a lot that I got for $25k, but I'd love a used F for $40k, but I know that might not be in the cards for me. I might even be able to finance that amount, but it wouldn't be smart because it'd be used and would be a higher risk than a new car which has a full warranty that protects you from unexpected thousand-dollar repair bills.

I am in the risk business, and you are 100% correct in that nobody should take on that kind of risk to only make $900. Even if the borrower has a 800+ credit score, that car will have well over 200,000 miles and it will still have a loan on it.

I paid $25k for my 06 with 14k miles in April 2011. I debated a few cars around $20-$21 that had 60K miles, but to me the low miles was worth the extra couple grand. I wouldnt pay much more than 10 grand for a car with 150,000 miles.
