Default Vinyling roof rails

Should i pop them off and vinyl them separately?

or

Vinyl over them with the same main piece of vinyl, then heat up the inner seems and run a credit card along the inner seams to conform?

figured id ask before i ruin a $100 sheet of vinyl. i would prefer the second method, of course, but would like to hear from those that have experienced this first hand.

Thanks.

if you can pop them off then why wouldnt you do it that way? it would be so much easier to wrap and look much cleaner.

because they are delicate and prone to break. and i will only have slivers of vinyl left to work with. dealing with a vinyl piece that is 1" wide and 5'-0" long sounds like a nightmare of patience.

dude wrap it in one piece and if you mess up then cut the vinyl and wrap the rails separately. just save extra vinyl.

It will look like hell if you don't wrap them seperately. If they do break, then just buy some new roof rails and paint them black. It's pretty hard to wrap them cleanly anyway so the contingency isn't bad.

Everyones suggestions are spot on and from the looks of it it seems like you already made up your mind about how you want to do it, so why ask the question?

just bought a 4x6 sheet of avery gloss black vinyl. i fiddled with the rails and they seem way to flimsy to vinyl by themselves.

i will attempt to vinyl everything in one shot tomorrow. if it doesnt come out well, then ill just cut along the inside of the rails and leave them as is.

Well its either that, or you pop it off and vinyl it, vinyl it on the car.... or buy one that is already painted black from the dealer which still means popping this one off. There's really no other way around it.

I say wrap them separately. It would look weird any other way.
