Default 2006 Lexus IS350 "backseats useless"

Basically I am deciding between an 06 350 and an 06 330i. Over at BimmerFest and e90 post, I have read that Lexus enthusiast don't want to admit it but the back seats are tiny and useless, can someone give me first hand experience and explain how the cabin room is. The 350 in terms of performance is far better but this whole cabin space thing...

well i guess ill be one of the first to admit that the backseats are useless. i think IS is a 4 door coupe. i knew what I was getting into but still decided to buy the car. it has a lot of benefits which i dont want to discuss it, since you can access that information in this forum. i hope they can resolve this inconvenience for the 3IS.

I rarely use the back seats in any car I've owned, but I haven't had any trouble with using them for people of various sizes. I don't know any really tall people I guess though, just average 5'10-6'0 or so.

Really though, I'd suggest next time you go to look at one, open the back door and climb in. It's the best way to do it.

If people are expecting large rear seats, they should be looking at the GS or LS.

The IS's back seats are small but not useless. People have enough leg room to sit behind me, and I'm not short.

I'm 5'9" and have my seat halfway back. When I sit in the back behind my driver seat, sitting upright, my knees are almost touching the back of the seat. If I slouch in my back seat, my knees hit the back of the front seats. Everyone I drive usually has no problems with it but they do mention how cramped it is in the front passenger and rear seats.

I dont think anyone in a 2IS will deny that the rear seats are small.. But I rarely take people in the rear anyways.

I'm 6ft 3. I don't sit with a gangster lean either.
The backseats are useless. I didn't buy this car to haul people around. I bought it to haul my crap around. My crap goes in the backseats.

I can fit two carseats back there no problem... and they take up alot of room. 330i is the same cabin, I looked at one before deciding on the IS

Small, but not useless. I haul people around all the time. Granted most of my friends are fairly short. If you want to see useless back seats, take a look at pretty much any 2+2. I've been in the 330i back seat, and they're not much better, if at all.

the center seat in the back is useless. you can fit 2 people back there but it won't be spacious

I drove my cousins IS350. I'm 5'10, he's 6'3. When he has the seat set to his position, nobody can sit behind him. When its set to mine, my knees are slightly brushed against the back. But nobody buys a ISx50 for the back seat space.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The back seats are functional for the available space in the car. If more back seat space is the primary factor in your choice of which car to buy, then you have many other good choices. For me, the IS350 is perfect.
