I disagree with your statement. $2 a tank adds up, especially for people like me who commutes 100 miles to school, work. Maybe to you saving $2 a tank isnt a big deal, but it is to commuters like me!

Anyone see a difference between ethanol-free stations versus those with "up to 10% ethanol"?

ive used only premium fuel from Hess and BP and did not experienced any problems.

There's an ethanol free station within a couple miles of my house that I tried for 4 or 5 tanks. I might have got another 1 mpg increase but it cost $.30/gal more than premium elsewhere plus they only take cash. At first I thought it might pay for itself but doing the math it just didn't add up. If it had been 3-4 mpg, maybe. Wasn't worth it so I switched back.

How do you find ethanol free gas?

I've never seen an ethanol-free station, neither at home in NJ, nor down here in the Grand Strand in SC where I'm vacationing.

In the Augusta, Ga area, we do have a couple of small independent stations that advertise non-ethanol fuel. I've tried it several times, but as anthrax144 said, the difference seems very slight compared to the 30-40 cent difference in price.

Yeah, it's usually the "smaller"/independent/family-owned stations that have the 100% petro fuel. But as my research found out...it didn't help. Neither on my Civic, nor on the Lexus.

but if low-octane fuel reduces your mpg by just 1 mpg...and we have (approx) a 20 gallon tank...then that approx 20 "lost" miles per tank has to be "re-purchased"... and that approx 3/4 gallon re-purchase costs almost the same (if not more) as the $2 tank savings you "think" you got when you filled the tank originally with lower-octane fuel.

So how does that math "add up" to an actual savings?

^ AFAIK, no one here is talking about using lower octane fuel, but rather where you buy the fuel from. You should always use Premium (91).

As long as the gas stations are part of the top teir gas, then there is nothing to worry about in terms of usnig different stations.

Does anyone in here use Costco 91 premium fuel ? I personally prefer Shell. Most of my family member and everybody I know recommend Shell (faster acceleration n better performance ?)

I use to use Costco 91 Premium for a long time when I had a 99 Toyota Camry Solara for about 7 years (236K) before I switched over to my IS. When the Solara was on its last legs, I found out about top teir gas and when I noticed Costco was not on there, I went back to using Chevron which I used long time ago until my dad said, on Costco is cheaper back in the day.

Going back to Chevron, the fuel economy was up a bit.

Well man if $2 a tank is a "big deal" to you maybe you should consider owning a less expensive car to operate such as a leaf/prius/volt etc....
Lexus clearly states to use PREMIUM UNLEADED FUEL. Maybe you could run your oil for 10,000 miles then filter it yourself with a coffee filter and re use it, that would save you some money also!!!

If you can afford a Lexus you should be able to afford to operate/maintain it.

I can afford to buy a Porche 911... why dont i have one you ask??? cause i cant afford to pay a mechanic a full time salary to work on it.
