If the cops really want to, the blue is going to be a magnet if they want to pull you over.

Unless ths is for show purposes, then ok but not the street, especially when it fails the white paper test.

To me it's more like pushing it. I would say it would be better to CYA (you get what I mean ) than to end up with a ticket for something like this.

In the area here, I seen people that have purple headlights... pushing their luck.

I've been pulled over for having 8000K, but the cops here are always looking. I didn't get a ticket. Just a warning to stay home for the night.

Honestly, I don't think it looks good. But legally, it's a hit or miss. Some cops might let it slide, as quite a few people run higher Kelvin HIDs. But really, I wouldn't want to give cops another reason to pull me over. Too much hassle.

Curious, what is this paper test you speak of?

Personally I'm running 5000k (white with a hint of blue), gives off a very cool OEM BMW look like my old E46.

You guys out in Cali really have to deal with a lot of crap from cops and the tail pipe sniffer.

I'm glad in Miami at least cops are little more liniant, hell a lot of the hood looking cars ride around with the purple HID's 12k I think.

The paper test is pretty simple, which some cops may use. All they need is to put a white sheet of paper in front of your headlight. If the light shown comming through the paper is white, you are fine - if blue, ticket.

For 5000K it should be fine (I run Philips Ultinon 6000K and there is no hint of other colors at all). The things mainly is that the majority/primary color shown from the light is white, you are fine. It is when it is the other way around.

Interesting, thanks for explaining what it is. I'm gonna try this when I'm really bored.

Like others stated, it's going to be a matter of where you live. Some states/counties are known for being hard-fast to the laws. Since you're in Cali, I'd be very worried personally.
