"Mechanic" ruined my interior..what can be done?
While trying to remove my nav system to diagnose its problems, some idiot mechanic badly damaged the rubber surrounded the unit. Can this be fixed with some compound of some kind? Is it even worth suing the guy? I was irate, so he obviously didnt charge me for the labor (which took about 3 hrs with computer diagnostics, etc.) Is replacing the entire dash the only remedy? Ive been trying to find a price for a new dash, but havent had any luck. Thanks.
btw, it looks much worse in person.
ps..I also have to get a new nav system. The cheapest ive found is $1500 or so for a refurbished unit on ebay. Does that sound about right?

WTF did he use a screwdriver to remove that? You can't use stuff like that on a dash! Why would he even continue after leaving just one mark -_-
Sadly, dash replacement is probably the only way your going to fix those imperfections now. I'd get a quote at the dealership and hand it to the mechanic to foot the bill. Small claims court costs like what...a $100 + your time? Might be worth it since you are gonna need a new dash.
You can try eBay for a new nav, or see if you can find a Fly Audio Navigation somewhere else instead.

The mechanic you had probably didn't even give a crap about being careful to cause that damage. When I was taking out my center to swap out the LEDs to white, I got mad and just used screwdrivers and razor blades to pry the vents and NAV out and didn't even get a single scratch to the dash. There's nothing I know of you can use to patch it up. You can cover it up using vinyls or carbon fiber but it'll still look dumb. The NAV, eBay has them used around $1500 to $3000. Look into a FlyAudio unit instead if you can, $2000 or so brand new I think.

Oh boy! That looks like a monkey tried to take the nav out. I've got very bad news for you. There's no easy fix without replacing the whole dash. Even doing that could cost you hours of labor since you have to take everything out. I hope your mechanic has insurance 'cause you should sue the hell out of him.

mechanics that dont act or work like a professional always treat your car like sh!xxt..there is always fingerprints on the paint or dash or seat when you get your car back....i would make them pay that dash from the dealer aint going to be cheap..
