That's a great news. Do you think it's going to be as easy as mentioning the TSB once it officially comes out and asking the dealership to replace them? OR is it going to require some "convincing?"

TIA

Shouldnt take any "convincing" will need to mention the tsb (when its out) to service writer to order you the headlights, probably will be on backorder since everyone on forum will know about it.

Thanks. BTW, what is the ripples for? Is it the solution to the bubbling problem?

To divert the suns rays from being directly on projector using it as a magnafine glass

kamileon,

Looks like now the new headlights have transparent eyebrows now lol!

Just curious, are the new lights -aimed and calibrated from Lexus such that no adjustments need to be made?; Or it needs to be aimed and calibrated after installation?

So was it the sun rays that was the culprit of the problem, not the projector's proximity to the bubbling plastic trim?

I'll take one of the "defective" 2011 headlights...

Who doesn't want theirs? haha

I remember coming across this thread when I first bought my IS a few months back in August.... I avoided it as I was either naive and didn't want to believe my IS would have this issue or just plain scared to check, haha. Now that this thread has grown it is now my mission to take a good look at my headlights today during lunch.

I really hope I am not having this bubbling issue but it seems inevitable!

EDIT: Just took a look at my IS.... I definitely have some ripples forming but no bubbles. It is in the exact shape of the metal/chrome ring. Definitely caused by sunlight reflection as mentioned in other members responses. It's not really bad but noticeable nonetheless I knew I should of avoided this thread, lol. Now it's gonna bother me till it's fixed.

Im not sure if the projector was redesigned. Im not lexus engineer. Headlight come already aimed but might be off calibration after shipment. Its only one adjustment and it is easy to do.

I'd be pissed if the LEDs are whiter now.

Ok, that solves my concerns. I assume when they do this TSB, they replace both and not just one of them if they are replacing the one that has a bubble while another does not? That would not be right.

With this TSB, would they be able to replace units which are not experiencing the symptom as a precaution?

That's awesome they did something about it. I wonder if there was enough time to test em to make sure the new ripples will work?

I won't be rushing in to get new ones. Mine are not to bad yet. Not sure if I like the ripples as much.

Plus I hate anyone else touching my car. Esp dealerships. Somehow techs find a way to drop somthing or dent somthing or scratch something.
