Default Spare with 19s? Travelling 700+ miles each way

Guys,

I'm going to be driving from Atlanta to Chicago in a couple weeks and I'm highly concerned about getting a blow-out or flat-tire. What do you guys do in regards to this? I know if i had a blowout that required a new tire no one is going to stock my size/brand.

I am considering putting my stocks on for the trip since i kept TPMS sensors in both sets but I would really like to leave my wheels on the car as it looks sick.

Ideas? Suggestions? I do have good roadside assistance but the lack of tire availability is what scares me.

I travel to the Keys and Orlando with my car all the time. What I do is I take one of my front stock front wheels with me.

I take the front as I can use it for both front and rears.

My 19's will have the same rolling diameter as stock so spare would be ok. But I would take a stock front like recommended for a longer trip, don't want to use the donut too long either way

Cool thanks for the tips. Good idea taking the front.

Has anyone ever tried to cram the stock front into the spare tire location?

I've done that in my previous lowered cars. All it does is raise the rear deck a couple inches. If you don't mind it being raised, that'll solve your problem.

My trunk is empty 99% of the time or a golf bag. So as long as I can get my golf bag in and it won't rattle.. I think that's my solution.

Thanks

Yeah, I've done the same thing in my Civic. Full size spare...it just raised the rear board cover like an inch. No biggie.

Check wheel diameters here:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

If you have an AWD try to keep all tires the same, a spare near the circumference of the current wheels.
