Brush-on vs spray-on brake caliper paint
Haven't had a vehicle before with a big enough front caliper that be seen easily that needed TLC. As most with a 350 would know, the OE coating on the calipers just don't last and look ugly at best before long. So next week I'll be receiving my Power slot rotors and StopTech streets and Lexus caliper vinyls...so I've got to go the extra mile and clean these things up right.
So what's the best method? I know that the aerosol brake caliper paint is newer to the market...but does it work/last? I've seen results of the brush-on kit look good, and look not-so-good...prep is key. The brush-on kit says resists temps up to 500F...while the spray-on say 900F!

I would recommend using the brush method. It is much easier then spraying it. Atleast i used it and no problems so far but make sure you have more then one brush. This is what i used (G2 Caliper Paint):

Here's what I heard. Spray cans are the worst, some people claim that their paint chips in under half a year. The Dupli-Color kit in your first picture is what I used, not too happy with the quality. Only 3 months later, I got a bad rock chip on the paint. The paint brush included in the kit is crap too. The hairs on the brush keep falling off with the paint onto the caliper. This stuff lasts good for a year or so. G2 epoxy based is the best. I helped my friend paint his calipers blue and got some on my hand. It took 4 days of scrubbing for the paint to come off while my Duplicolor came off my hands just soaking it in warm water. Shows how good adhesion and water tolerance G2 has.
My recommendation is to spend more for G2 paint. Also, spend either $1 for a foam brush set or $5 for a portable sprayer from Perval. The regular brushes suck, the foam I used was okay, and the sprayer made me paint smooth and perfect. Sprays on fast and very evenly, half the time if takes to paint by brushes.

Yeah, be patient and let it dry completely. I got too excited the first time I painted my calipers, tried putting on the decals and when I attempted to remove the backing off the caliper, it took off wet paint with it and made my caliper look all smudged up. I redid my calipers a month ago. Gave it two days to dry only cause my decals were still going through snail mail.

The G2 is not just a paint. It is actually a polymer based paint that creates an enamel coating that's pretty durable. I like it and wanna do this after I upgrade my brakes to 350 BBKs.
Also regarding the temps rating, I wouldn't worry about it. Most of us won't even be driving it that hard to reach that temp. Only time when you even get close to that is a series of hard stops such as GT Racing.

I opted to do the can because i didnt want brush marks.I think i used dupli-color engine enamel and clear.As you said prep is key.Make sure you clean with brake cleaner real well before you start to prime.My calipers look legit for 2 years and running.
