I have the same question applying to car design instead of rim design. Can car manufacturer produce a car as good looking as a Ferrari F430 but costs like a Honda Accord? They should be able to do that right?

Better looking is very subjective. What you might think looks good, many might loathe having that on their cars.
Seeing as aftermarket rims is a very niche market, manufacturers are very conservative with their wheel designs in order to appeal to the mass. Plus...a big part of the aftermarket wheels appeal is being able to pick out a set of wheels that make your car unique. Even with an aggressive design or whatever, there will still big people getting rid of the wheels for a different set (IE: IS-F has nice wheels, but several IS-F owners still go aftermarket).

You do realize that putting aftermarket wheels on your car actually LOWERS the value of it, right? Like kumquatism said, it now appeals to fewer people, therefore less demand for your car. YOU might like it, but just look at any "do these wheels look good?" thread and you'll see a hundred differing opinions. Mass appeal is the goal.

Stock rims look good to me. Something a big and leading edge company like Lexus designed and researched for years gives stock rims some credibility in my book. Or similarly thinking, I'm so into Lexus and the IS, I want to flaunt the entire package from top to bottom. Along those same lines, there's also that underground following of those who lower their cars and keep the stock rims as part of the look.

It doesn't matter how awesome a stock wheel looks. It could be the most beautiful stock wheel on any car, ever. The point is, it's stock and some people just can't live with that.
