older is350 buying questions(not in FAQ)
Today was sad, I sold my 2011 335xi. My driving has been reduced to errands and one day a week in the office.
I'm lookin at some older is350's. Most of what im seeing are 06 and 07 model years. The big question I have is how reliable are these guys? Is an IS350 with 125k miles (assuming proper maintence ) a safe buy?
How many miles are on your IS?

These cars are pretty reliable. It depends on the service/maintenance histories of the car! For such high mileage, i strongly recommend try to find a one or two owners car with excellent service records. I recently picked up an 2006 with 106,000 miles but it is excellent conditions with all services done by the dealers (even up to a month before the sale). Goood luck with the search.

Proper maintenance is just one aspect. If the car was abused in how it was driven, it will affect life too. The first car I ever drove, I would not want to have bought used. Anyways it is reliable with just the usual issues that come up for most people.
My 07 IS has 32.5k miles and I am the only owner, so I can not really comment on how my experience was for purchasing a used IS350 was.

seriously, your best bet is find car for sale by private owner (preferably a bit older driver). Do not buy any car that had modification!
There is nothing wrong with buying used car! I rather have the original owner take a hit on depreciation. I have always purchased used car (from an used BMW Z4M to a beater Honda ) and never have any issue.

Purchased my IS350 a few months ago with just under 100k. It was more miles than I wanted but was obviously well cared for and has had every single service done at the original dealer it was bought at. In generally if your gonna buy a high millage luxury car you cant beat a Lexus but hold out for one that is perfect.

Awesome, your telling me exactly what I wanted to hear!
My understanding is I can get the service history online through Lexus with the VIN. Or I could just call the dealer and get history. If no dealer history, that would indicate a problem to me.
I'll post back when I pick an IS up.

I love my '06 IS350! Purchased with 31k miles...now at 72k. The ONLY thing that caught me off-guard so far is the OEM NAV screen went out on mine, and it boiled down to sourcing a replacement unit. Cost for me was $400. So for the near 3yrs-worth of HARD driving, I've only had oil changes, new tires, alignments, new brake pads, new rear calipers, and air freshners. Cost of ownership/maintenance has been LOW; I DIY everything too.

That's right Lexus Driver keeps track of all service records/recall items just by entering your VIN and doing a quick registration. I bought my 06 350 with low 90's on it and the car was maintained by Lexus, I have no complaints and plan on keeping there service. No problems so far! Go For It DUDE!

Do you have to be the owner of the vehicle to sign up online and enter the VIN number? If you do, are there other ways to search for the service records of the car if you have the VIN?
