Hey guys,

so i'm planning on getting 19" LFA style rims for my 2006 is250 + lowering my car

i've been reading the fourms and apparently there are sensors on my current rims?

i don't know that much about cars, my mechanic is goign to do this for me.

i was reading up alot on these forums before i purchase the rims.

just want to know what i need to do to fix those sensors from turning on in my car.

all the pictures seem to be down on the URL, and i would like to know if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Best to search under TPMS - there is also a TMPS stickey in wheels and tires section.

Buy the sensors online - it will be much cheaper. (NAPA is like ~$150 a piece for them) online you can get 4 for about $50

The tire/rims place should be able to install them on the new rims (I assume LFA-rim has the groove for them - not 100% positive though) but I doubt they will be able to calibrate new ones for you... my local tire places could NOT... had to go to a lexus/toyota dealer.

how come people are stating to just stick the sensors together with a plastic tie?

That's to trick the sensor so that it doesn't go off when you don't have them mounted in the wheel. It replicates the same pressure force, so that the sensor reading is false. If you can mount them in the wheel, you should. It's easier to know when to fill up your tires.

You can buy them on eBay and then have them re-programmed at tireshop. Or you can buy them from any Lexus parts store such as Sewell.

Dont buy new ones- when you get your new wheels put on have the tire shop put your current tire pressure sensors on your new wheels!

Be sure to write down the codes on all the sensors so you don't need to dismount the tire when reprogramming.

Drop by a discount tire or tire rack.

Depending on the location they will just do it for free.

I called a Lexus dealership for my summer tires and reprogramming was more than $100.The guys at Discount Tire did it in 5 minutes, did it for free, and refused payment.

They literally walk around the car with a handheld device, plug into your IS under the steering wheel and you walk away happy.

No need to write them down. Lexus put the scanner next to your tire and poof the code come up on the scanner . Just to let you know some discount tire dont carry the same one as lexus. They can program your tpms but it delete your orginal one. So you have to go back to them and pay another fee to get it done everytime. Just a heads up.

Also, you'll just program the new sensors as a 2nd set anyways, your original ones will still be in the system.

19 LFA REP I have these on my 06 Gs 430 and 2 out of 4 have hairline cracks around the lip no other damage (MFG Defect BAD CAST) I have had them less then a year and the company that manufactures them will not warranty them, the rep called me a bad driver lol My OEM wheels don't have cracks like this and those where on the car for years. I WOULD NOT BUY THESE WHEELS.
