Default is250 LS1 swap

I had an 07 is250 on lease that i have already returned. loved that car! I currently have an sc300 that i wanted to do an ls1 swap in. I have the complete drivetrain sitting in my garage right now. Thing is i really want to swap this into an is250 and would love to buy one just to swap in the ls1 t56 manual combo. Thoughts and opinions please.

This would be quite an expensive feat. You'd be better off getting an IS-F if you want a V8

Oh boy if that will even work, you're talking about a LOT of custom fabrication there. You'd be talking a lot of cash. Plus with all the electronics built onto the IS, I just don't think it would work. But man if you pull it off...

Was considering doing the same thing when my motor or tranny dies. It would be an ISF killer forsure...if it could run reliably. Labor could likely be more than what you paid for the drivetrain.

i love how everyone thinks this would be expensive! like i said i have a COMPLETE drivetrain. People dont realize how small the gen III (ls1) footprint is. I am a fabricator so throw that cost out the window. LS1 into an is250 would destroy an ISF. I have found several is250's in my area for 14-18k.

Hey if u can fabricate, you got the parts and are confident you can fix any issues that come up... Do it!! I'd love to see an IS with an LS1!

You really think you're the first person to come up with the idea of an engine swap in an IS250? C'mon man...If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it. As said earlier, there's just too many electronics in the IS250. Put the LS1 in a shell that is easier to work on than a 2IS.
Even if you do succeed in making it run...how long do you think it can hold up? You think it'd smoke an IS-F? If it does (highly unlikely without F/I), how long til you would need to fix everything that'll be falling apart again.

I know quite a few people who think it's all fun and games sticking a new engine in a car. In the end, it just bit them all in the butt; too much time and effort to be worth it, let alone money spent. An engine swapped in will never run like the car did straight from the factory. They all ended up selling their swapped cars for a huge loss.

^ Well two things there that i have to point out...

A) He didn't say he thought he was the first person to come up with the idea of swapping the motor.

B) He doesn't want the car to run like it did from the factory, hence the engine swap

I don't think anyone who seriously considers engine swaps expects them to be plug-n-play. Of course it is going to be a pain in the ***. Of course they're going to take countless hours of research/fabbing/troubleshooting. Of course they're going to be expensive. This all comes with the territory of being a one-of-a-kind beast. Hell, almost everyone who seriously mods their cars ends up selling them for a huge loss eventually.
