Id get the 06 and save some money. I had 71K miles on mine when I sold it and I did not have any problems besides regular maintenance. Sure the 08 is newer but they are technically the same car. You can also get a 3rd party warranty if you're that worried.

I have an '06 IS350 with 82k miles. Zero problems other than the recalls. Personally, I'd save the $6k by getting the 2006. That's quite a bit of "insurance" against problems that might occur, and the vehicles will look virtually identical.

Good luck, either decision leads to a nice car.

Thanks for the advice. I made the move saturday. I purchased an 06 is350 from a private seller. 39k miles only and transferrable warranty to 100k. Only $23,000 and its MINT. Great deal, great honest seller, awesome car. I dont miss the evo one bit haha

Def go with the '08......but the price needs to be $25k or better. My '07 I got a year old and with 16k for $26k and it was $42k. Network ur way to the great deal.

Default 2006 Lexus IS250

Hi I'm planning on buying a 2006 is250 6spd, with 60000km. List price is $19000, is there any major problems that I should watch out for?

Test drive the car, check for the recall services and no accidents. Other than that, it should be good.

Negotiate the price down a bit too

Carfax is junk btw so check the bumpers to see if they look repainted/unmatched. Maybe pay a local mechanic to inspect the car, might be the best ~$50 you ever spend!

check to see if all the tsib's have been performed

didn't the 2006 model have an issue with rusting of the front passenger floor pan due to easy blockage of a drainage conduit?

Have a mechanic inspected the car to make sure the previous owner maintained the car properly. I'm not saying 06 IS250M is problematic since I got mine around that mileage as well and never had major issues.

Like anyone else said, check if all critical warranty jobs had been done.

Also beware of a common IS250M issue i.e. noisy tranny.

you'll be happy. Hope you don't want a bunch of power. Depends on what car you're coming from.
