Automatic transmission problem: hanging on to gears too long on downshifts, jumpy

Thanks for all the responses. In response to a few of the questions above, no I don't drive like a grandma, and haven't changed my driving habits at all, so this sudden change in shifting behavior of the car is a surprise to me. And that's good to know about the ECT power mode, that it does hold onto gears longer, ostensibly so you can then accelerate more quickly if need be.
Overall it almost seems like my car is acting as if it's in ECT power mode even when it's not. Can anyone elaborate on the process by which the car "learns" your driving behavior? Is it the ECU that manages it? And I assume it's continually learning, so for example if a new driver drives the car for a while, the car will adapt to that person's style as opposed to just stubbornly carrying over the habits of the past driver.

Did anyone find a way to resolve this? I just did a transmission pan flush on my 2006 is350 and I'm getting the same issue. Any help would be appreciated
edit: resolved, reset ECU by unplugging battery for 15 mins, then driving it
2nd edit: hmmm still have the problem, but less pronounced after the we ECU reset, kinda.

Hi, I seem to have the same problem. My car, when coming to a stop, it downshifts from 6th to 5th to 4th and then when it is going to downshift to 3rd, it hangs on the 4th gear for too long, so the RPM goes really low, like under 700-800 I would estimate. So when it gets into 3rd gear sometimes there is a jerk, however there is always a clunk. Sometimes it doesn't go to 3rd at all, you see the screen (for the gear your are in) go from 4th to 2nd and there is even a bigger jerk. My car is still under powertrain warranty. I would like to know if anyone got anything on this issue.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
