I dunno about you guys, but I had a lot of difficulty removing some of the bolts on the manifold to access all the spark plugs on the IS250. I'd say it took me almost 2 hours plus I needed help from my dad...but we were both pretty lost on how to access all the spark plugs. I had to consult the DIY here to find all the necessary bolts to loosen the manifold

Thanks for the tip! I asked that when I made an appointment a couple weeks ago to get the recalls taken care of and inquired how much it would cost to have my spark plugs replaced at the same time if I supplied plugs...they quoted me one hour of labor! Heck of a deal. I ordered the plugs from Sewell for about $78 and it cost me $120 in labor at the Lexus dealership. Way better than the nearly $500 they would have charged for the plugs and 2-2.5 hour of labor!!!

Yeah I ended up having my spark plugs replaced by the dealer at the same time they performed the cam gear TSIB. After some negotiating (basically my calling them on some BS, but that's a story for a different thread), they ended up charging me just a half hour's labor ($57) for installing the plugs from Sewell.

Default Too good to be true??

I have 2007 IS250 and i am hitting 60k miles. So i am going to get my spark plugs changed (already bought the plugs form Sewell). I live in the Toronto area and i have gotten a wide range of quotes for labour. Couple of local dealerships quoted me $200 plus tax which is about 1.5 hrs labour (i think). However Lexus of Richmond Hill quoted me $134 plus tax to change the plugs, is this a little weird to anyone? There basically charging me an hours labour.

I thought to change the plugs is labour instensive so what gives??

I wouldn't argue it! It seems low, especially for the 250 since they have to replace the manifold gasket. I did my own spark plug change on my 350 in about 1.5 hours and could probably do it quicker now that I've had experience with it. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership could do it in an hour but I am surprised they are charging more for it (book rate is probably two hours minimum.)

I told the dealer I had a sluggish take off at the stop light. They did the top engine flush. I brought my synthetic oil and new plugs from Sewell and it was ALL FREE!!!!
