hey guys

i have a 2007 IS250 Sports (australia has Prestige, Sports, Sports Lux)
my car came stock with:
Nav + Mark Levinson
Auto Head Lights (HID, AFS) + Auto rear view mirror
18" IS350 rims
cooled seats
Sports suspension
dunno what "package" these are for american cars

but it has alcantara seats, i was just wondering if any american cars come with alcantara, and if it actually is, real alcantara

Isn't Alcantara a man made material? A fake suede substitute? I had a watch strap made out of it.

i've never heard of alcantara in a US spec ISx50 i'm pretty sure all they offer is leather.

Other than leather is offered in US check out the f sport interior. Microfiber / alcantra whatever its its called.

Had alcantara, a manmade suede-like material, on my Crossfire SRT-6 and it was awesome. Much better than leather when cornering aggressively.

It is what the headliner in the LS is made out of. Nice stuff. it's also what is in the center of the seats on the new Fsport IS models.

Actually I believe on the IS F has Alcantara on the seats, on the ISx50 F-Sport models, I think (think) it is another type of microfibre called Cellensia (which is what my IS250 has instead of leather).

Not 100% sure though.

the sport seats on the F-Sport package are indeed alcantara branded microsuede. It is awesome.
My IS300 has Ecsainne branded microsuede, and it too was awesome, even more awesome becuase it was perforated.
I prefer it over leather. Warm in winter, cool in summer, and not slippery at all during aggressive driving.!

Seems strange that Lexus wouldn't advertise it as such, considering they do for the IS F, but that's hardly conclusive. Does anyone have anything documenting it from Lexus stating that it is Alcantara?

It comes on some of the CT200h's here in the US. I test drove a CT with it, very nice. I believe Alcantra is just a man-made imitation suede, so i don't know if you can define it as "real".

Isn't the F-sport package simply reusing the stock seats from the IS-F? I assumed so since you can't get vented on em like you can't with the F. (which makes em a non-starter in my book)

if so it wouldn't be surprising that it's the same material.

Not sure, it seemed different when I was looking at/feeling the seats. The part numbers are different as well (though that doesn't always mean that it is, could be stitching or something else insignificant).

In any case, I could definitely be wrong, and they're both definitely microfibre, but as to which brand both are, I don't know. All I know is that from everything I've seen, only the IS F is referred to as Alcantara in Lexus materials.

in canada the base models (06-10 i believe) come with fake suede/alcantara/fabric seats. along with 16" steel wheels.
