Default questions

so im looking for an IS250 6speed manual. and from everything ive read there is no factory LSD correct? Ive read about alot of recalls dash rattles and some valve and fuel line issues. Is there anything else i should be on the lookout for on a 250? Ive read alot about IS350 stuff but havent found alot on IS250 6 speed manuals.

Please no flaming Ive done research and figure other IS250 owners could be a big help and would be knowledgeable. Its time to uprgrade from my IS300.

only the 06' has the Brake fluid reservoir one. The pedal one was for all the drama with the Toyota cars not stopping (I didn't do mine). The fuel one is the latest and think it's a gasket. There are many threads on it.

Recalls shouldn't be of concern to you because they're covered by Lexus. I'd just make sure they've already been performed on the car when you eventually purchase.

What SHOULD be of concern to you are any issues that are not covered by recalls but occur frequently in the 2IS, of which there are few but the ones that do can be significant. The dash rattle is the main one. It affects pretty much every 06+ ISX50 and costs minimum of $1000 at the dealer to get it addressed. Notice I didn't say fixed; most times it takes more than one trip to get it fixed, or in some cases it will never completely go away.

This shouldn't deter you from buying the IS250, just make sure you check the service history (Lexus', NOT Carfax) to see what's been addressed when.

If the car's still under factory warranty (you didn't mention year so I don't know) then this is moot because you can get these things addressed under warranty.

i am looking for an 06 to 08 with under 50k miles which makes my search even more difficult. im not sure about the warranty on these. i believe if i got an 08 with less than 50k miles it would still have some warranty left not sure though

And does anybody know about the LSD? is their such a thing as a factory. For example most IS300s that had an LSD were 5spd cars not many automatics got them. I think from everything ive read the only way to get an LSD is by purchasing aftermarket.

No factory LSD but if you got 2G to spend you can get an after market one.

As long as were on the topic of other parts. There is the F Sport clutch, Fidanza clutch. There is also the F Sport short shifter as well.

I hate to bump this old thread but you guys mention there is not factory LSD but my car then is strange. I recently had the rear end on jack stands and had the gearbox in neutral. I proceded to spin one tire and the other tire spun in the same direction instead which would indicate I have an LSD. I purchased my car used and the carfax indicated that it was originaly sold new in New York.

With the trans in neutral then the drive shaft is essentially disconnected from the rest of the powertrain, therefore any drag in the diff would cause the wheels to spin together. Put the car in gear or park and try turning one wheel...the opposing wheel should spin in the opposite direction.

I'll try that I did not think it made a diffrence as on my integra (LSD Equiped) The wheels turn the same way either in neutral or in gear.
