Default Guys with Vaistech units or any ipod integration unit actually

Hey guys with ipod integration units, can you post pictures or tell me about where you guys mounted your units behind the navigation unit. Or if you placed it some where else tell me about it. And also where you ran the wire for your ipod. Im debating if i should run it thru the cigarette lighter or arm rest. Thanks for your help.

By the way, i have the VML unit, its kind of big, so i dont think it'll fit behind the navi like the other vaistech units.

I have the same unit but haven't installed yet. I'll be mounting the USB in the center console right behind the cupholder. This way when the ipod or flash drive is plugged in, you won't see any cables and I can close the consoles lid.

I'm not sure on location yet. I'll decide once I pull the nav. When I had the nav out a couple of weeks ago (prior to getting VML) to do the nav hack, I noticed a few places to mount.

I'll dremmel a small enough slit for the USB to fit into in the console. It will be mounted prob with 3m at the back side of the cupholder and on the bottom so you won't see anything such as a hole.

I am planning on installing the vaistech unit soon, and the best/cleanest option I have come up with is to use a hole saw with a diameter equal or slightly greater to the width of the ipod connection cable, then use a rubber hole plug with a slit cut from the edge to center like this:
http://www.bonanza.com/booths/carpar...ole_Plugs_BB12
Slide the connector wire into the slit and install the plug.

Im either going to do this at the back-inside of the center console, or right behind the center console cup holder.

You may be able to fit the module under the center console trim piece, around the shifter (on an auto at least).

I installed the oem iPod adapter, and put box under the giftin console. The only drilling I had to do was put a hole in the side of the glove box. I want to upgrade to a new viastech ml soon

I currently have my ML+ in the glove box (just removed the non-air filter panel temporarily to route cables). The iPOD adapter I put through the coin holder (for now).

VML fits there as well (but not the ML+ since it's too thick).

^^^ would you happen to know how to get to that compartment? I opened the side panel but cant figure how to safely pull the bottom out without breaking something. I dont want to just yank on it. And it that thread above it looks like he pulled the whole glove compartment out.

^^^ Pop off the side (that touches the door when it's closed), then pull down the bottom.

Quick question. Is the Vaistech (ML+) MediaLinQ Plus a plug in unit or wire cutting/tapping.

oh and as for the USB, cant we just used the 2010 2IS usb/aux connector in place of our aux connector. Cleans option I think just might be harder to wire in.

The VML+ is completely plug and play. And yes if you have a 2010+ you can use the stock USB for music but you wont get the ipod look on the screen, video, or be able to put on your back up camera at will. Or you mean tapping into it somehow? Im sure its possible but the point of the VML is is keeps everything in tact and its easy to go back to oem. I put mine in the center console there is a little trap door down there that comes up to ru the wires I didnt cut anything. i just leave the ipod in the arm rest.

The VaisTech ML+ is plug and play. No cutting, splicing, etc. Great unit.

Just wait for the unit they're coming out with for Android... It will be sweet. (HINT it will take advantage of HDMI output)
