Default How long do quality HIDs last?

I got my HIDs done at a reputable shop in south florida (Jr electronics) and Ive had them for about 6 months now. I hate the look of my yellow drls so I leave my HIDs on at all times. (I dont want to get led drls so I can keep my high beams)

Now Im thinking of doing the fog light mod (only fogs on as my drls) and I was wondering if eventually my fogs would fade because of the extended use and would be dimmer than my headlights?

It's not necessarily that it fades, HID's shift in color. As they get older, the color usually moves up the spectrum a bit. For example, if you have 6000k fogs and headlights, if you run the fogs all the time and the headlights only when you drive at night, then eventually the fogs will appear a little more blue. It wont be THAT much of a difference, but some people notice it. Honestly, most people usually don't even notice the color difference till someone points it out lol I noticed it on my buddys old car but he didn't.

You get 3000k fogs (yellow) with 6000k headlights or something, then you wont notice any color difference

They should last longer than that. I had a set of Xentic HID's in my Prelude's headlights that lasted nearly 3 years without fail.

You can do that just to get rid of the DRL....but if your doing it to replace it with HIDs....then i ask, why would you wanna run HID's in your high beams? lol

quality OEM bulbs should last pretty much the life of the vehicle as long as there is no contamination or anything.

The Philips 35w 85122+ that i have been running at closer to 50w have been installed for over 2 years with no noticeable fade or anything. I'm still expecting a few more years out of them.

I had a set of Helligkeit HID's last me just short of 4 years, in a couple of cars. Last summer the ballast went out. And at 55$ i just bought another kit, came in two days later and re-installed it again and hoping for another 4 years
