Default Cabin filter change

Hi, is there a DIY pictorial somewhere showing how to change the cabin filter in the glove box?

Before starting it, make sure your car is in "Recirculate" Mode for the heat/AC.

Its really easy, i did it today..seemed to make a big difference. Mine was nasty.. Open your glove box, pop out the shelf (its hard to pull the side out), when you pop that out you will see a cover plate. Take that off and there your go, just reach in and pull it out.

Interesting, just curious as to why... I did mine this weekend without giving it any thought.

BTW OP, the filter lifts up out of the plastic tray it is setting in before pulling it out...

It would get very expensive if you did not have it in recirculate mode... Breakage would happen!!

Unless mine was already broken I have to seriously doubt that. It was a breeze to change and just lifted it out.

Well I'm just going by the owners manual. It states that the cabin filter cannot be removed unless it's in recirculate mode. I read at least one post of an owner with a major repair bill for not following this direction.

I would not want to be the unlucky one to test this one out!

Erk....
Just looked at the DIY, mine may have already been broken cause the tray stayed in and the filter paper simply lifted up and out! Grrrrrrrr
Now i gotta go investigate!

How often should you change the cabin filter?

I totally agree, and get frustrated when it switches to outside air.

when it's raining and cold, you can't have the windows open all the way to quickly defog. so you have to use fresh air to defog the windows.

the humidity from your breath/body with the windows up fogs up the windows too. fresh air clears that up the fastest.
