there are alot of options for remote start but I would go for a reputable company but becareful most if not all aftermarket remote starts will void the warranty

No, it won't.

Installing an aftermarket part never "voids" a new car warranty.

Look into something called the Mangunson Moss Act sometime.

DEI makes a module for our smartkeys that works very well. I just had that installed with my Viper 5901--works very well. you need two keys to program it but after that it works on its own.

This has been talked about before. Some have had issues or did not work with factory alarm.

I can't remember which 2way model I have exactly, but it's a CompuStar. Be careful on who installs it...I've had issues in the past with "sketchy" installs...I really did my research before I let someone cut into all the wiring under the dash of my Lexus.

I had one put in just before Christmas. It is one of the better Avital units, but I don't know what kind of module they used to interface with it. I used a guy that I totally trust, and he has done lots of them. Even with that, it took quite a while, and several re-flashes of the module to get it to work properly. He had the car starting without the keys in it, but the hardest part was getting the car to cut off if you got into it WITHOUT the keys. Got it on the 2nd try though, and it works great.

this is true, but the DEI module has firmware updates that are required BEFORE it is installed--now it works just fine! I am very happy with mine and worth the money.

True as this may be, I'd still look into a good company to get the remote start from and whoever will install it. While installing it won't void the warranty, if it causes a problem, that would of course not be covered under warranty.

You just want to avoid causing problems that warranty won't cover.

I've had Compustar for many years and their remote start is really good. They have lifetime warranty on their products so if the brain on the alarm or anything goes out, then you are free to get another one installed with no charge.

So with all these remote start modules, you had to carry a second keyfob with you right? Or can it entirely replace your OEM keyfob?

Ive had the autostart in my car for more than a year. Its worked fine with no problems. It was a little $$$ because besides getting the alarm you have to get a module for the keyless entry. It doesnt take long to install about two hours. I have a avitar remote and alarm with the xpresskit module.

^^Are you able to unlock the doors with your factory fob while the engine is running?
