Are you flooring it when you feel that jerk? If so, that's a lot more understandable/acceptable than if you're just driving normally.
With that said, I don't really notice any problems from 1st to 2nd under any conditions, but it could just be that I'm used to it after four years and you're more sensitive to it than I am... or maybe even ever was. I was coming from a crappy old 4AT before the Lexus, so I don't think any jerkiness stood out to me.
My suspicion is that whatever you're feeling is normal, but obviously none of us can know totally for sure without driving in the car.

Ecu should learn your driving style ...
When I installed my steering damper I had to unplug my battery (which reset the ECU), and after I was finished I felt the car was trying to shift to early causing a small jerking feeling shifting from 1st to 2nd.
Solution: Drive it like you stole it! ... you car will "learn" that you floor it alot and it won't shift so suddenly trying to shift to a lower rpm so fast.

Very nice car. GFM is an amazing color. Just drive very safely and do your best to avoid having to repaint panels.
