Question Driving IS 250 in the snow

I am planning on driving from Los Angeles to Park City, UT in my 2010 IS 250 (RWD) next week. There is a likely chance of snow. I will mostly be traveling on major highways, but I am concerned about safety. I am an experienced snow driver but I usually am driving the RX.

I know that there is most likely not going to be enough clearance to put chains or cables on.

Hoping that someone out there may have some advice...

Has anyone attempted driving this car in the snow or putting snow cables on it? How did that go?

Don't do it. It'll mess up your tires and maybe even damage the car. Just drive slow and you'll be alright.

My motto is a little paranoia and caution NEVER go too far.

I would definitely check your tire treads above all else. RWD + bad tires + ice = a road accident waiting to happen. Just saying.

Like ppl have said driving super slow and taking extra caution are a must if you have to head out under such conditions.

Good luck to you!

Never be the early one to get on a snow laden highway. Let the salt trucks get there first, followed by other major trucks, etc which will melt the snow.
side roads on the other hand? be very careful.

I live here in Utah, not sure when you're planning to head over, but its snowing in the mountains right now. Expected snow/rain mix til the evening.

I do have good tires (Eagle GTs) and Thanksgiving had the chance to drive it in snow. It handled very well. Just drive slow and use the well travelled roads.

Don't do it unless you really have to, I would rent an SUV for the trip. but if you do decide to do it anyway, drive slow, and be alert and careful...

get 3 x 60lbs bags of sand and throw it in the trunk. You'll want the extra traction.

i drive a rwd 6mt and live in MN, the weight really does help.

get snow tires. get some autosocks or chains to have in your trunk. along with a shovel, sand, some carpet/cardboard/mats.

along with some emergency supplies in case you get stranded.
