Changing Tranny Fluid on 350???
Members,
I have searched here and in the DIY section where mods put changing oil, spark plugs, ect......
I cannot find a thread or information on how to change and the amount of fluid our cars take? Is there a difference in the fluid levels between 250/350?
I was thinking of putting in Royal Purple to give the tranny life extended life and also just good maintence practice to do as well. Any help from memebers who have changed there's or if I am missing the DIY thread, please point me in the right direction.
Matt

The ISX50 has a sealed transmission and no dipstick.
The way Lexus does it is draining as much ATF as possible, then refill it using a device to measure the temperature to determine exactly how much fluid goes back into the tranny.
I don't know if Royal Purple makes better ATF, but general rule of thumb is to stick to the OE World Standard (WS) fluid.
Do a search, I believe someone had uploaded a step-by-step guide to changing the ATF.

Per owners manual it's a sealed system with lifetime fluid.
Per Lexus TIS it's physically impossible to remove more than 10-15% of the fluid in the system even by dropping the pan... you'd have to remove the transmission and torque converter entirely and disassemble them to get more out... so as others have said, just leave it alone.
I don't know that there's that many owners past 100k yet though given the car has only existed for a bit over 5 years, but I can't recall having heard about any significant number of automatic transmission issues... (the manual on the other hand in the 250 sucks and I've seen quite a few of those replaced, which is extra scary when you consider only like 3% of all 2ISes are manuals)
