Hey Kurtz thanks for the link. Even with shipping I'll still save a few bucks.

Yeah my next idea was to check with Toyota especially since it is Toyota coolant not Lexus so yeah there could be a little mark up.

OEM coolants can be bought in Parts Dept at Lexus dealer or Toyota dealer (both are the same) for ~$30/gal:
  • Toyota Long Life ("red" coolant, 1980-2003 models)
  • Toyota Super Long Life ("pink" coolant, 2004-present models)
But these are probably actually made by someone like Valvoline or Pentosin who also sell under different labels in auto parts stores. I'm actually suspecting it may be a contract with Pentosin.. just a hunch on Japanese-German connection.

Alternative 'universal' 'generic' 'aftermarket' 'retail' options or "equivalents", for the "pink" stuff, that I know of, from auto parts stores, etc, for ~$12-13/gal:
  • Zerex Asian vehicle formula (actually Valvoline)
  • Pentosin Pentofrost A4 (from Germany)
Basically, you want P-HOAT (Phosphate-Hybrid Organic Acid Technology) with Phosphates, but does NOT contain 2EHA or Silicates. The "pink" coolant for Japanese cars - phosphates good, silicates bad. And NEVER use GM's Dex-Cool. In fact, just avoid the orange, yellow, green and blue stuff. Never mix, because it will cause clogs down the road/over time/in the long run. (pun, and Eagle's quote, intended).

Toyota/Lexus SLLC sold in North America is manufactured by CCI Manufacturing IL (also known as Intac Automotive Products). I am not sure who does it for the factories, such as in Japan, but it is likely done by Chuo Yuka if I had to make an educated guess. I'm not sure if CCI/Intac/Chuo Yuka offers any consumer/aftermarket-direct brands, never really looked into it before.

Important note about red/pink Toyota LLC/SLLC production change, it happened in August, 2003, which for most models meant that the change was up to 2003 and then 2004-on, however certain models changed model year before the changeover. The 2004 RX330 started production in Feb. 2003, the 2004 Sienna started production in Jan. 2003, the 2004 Echo H/B started production in Jun. 2003, and the 2004 Corolla/Matrix started production in May 2003. Any of these could have a 2004 model year that had red LLC coolant.

Jeff
