The engine sound louder after the valve springs recall.
My 06 IS350 make louder engine knocks after I took it in for the valve springs recall during idle and deceleration.I took it back to the dealer and the tech said that my sounded louder, and he can not fix-it.Is anyone experience the same problem?:

I have an 06 IS350 and after the valve springs recall, the engine sounds like it knocks a little bit when the engine is cold (not loud). When the engine warms up, the noise seems to go away. I took it to the dealership and they cannot reproduce the problem.
Anyone else notice this? Or is this just in my head?

Yeah, I've got that knock as well when it's cold. I'm new to IS350 ownership, so I thought that was possibly normal when they were cold. Any thoughts specific to that would be great.

Noise after spring recall
I believe mine has a little more valve noise after the recall. I would assume it is because of the larger springs. The reason manufacturers use the smallest and weakest spring isn't from being cheap, I think it is to reduce valve train noise. Larger stronger springs make more noise when they close the valve.

My '06 IS 350 of course has been recalled. It runs just fine. What if I just ignore the recall and keep driving it? Only 38,000 miles on it and I'm VERY tempted to just forgetaboutit!
I'll bet that my valve springs are OK and I REALLY don't want the engine torn apart. I'm still in a state of shock that my LEXUS (note it is a LEXUS) has had so many recalls. And "Yes" I know that some of them were polictically correct recalls..........but nonetheless.
Thanks, I'm done now.

Lexus states only 0.2% of cars will actually break... Presumably you'd still get it fixed for free at the very least for the duration of the powertrain warranty (6 yr/70k miles normally).... being that recalls don't expire they might still fix it free even after that but not sure how that'd work if you actually got the letter for the work (I still haven't gotten mine though)
