rims peel off and bubble. Was there ever a re-call on them?
Hi everyone.
My gf has a 2006 Lexus IS250 AWD. She has rims that are like these
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...s_IS250_01.jpg
All four of them are peeling off (the paint is bubbling and coming off)
The car went out of warranty about a year ago or so, has 50K on it. I started dating her after the car went out of warranty, and she never thought about trying to fix this with the dealership. (she said that its been like that for about 2 years or so, and dealership never mentioned fixing it to her - why would they? )
We now want to sell her car, and I had a person tell me that rims on his Toyota Tundra were doing exactly the same, and he got them fixed because a recall was issued.
He also mentioned that his friend did the same on some Lexus.
I tried Google-ing it but could not find anything related to IS250 rims. Did anyone hear anything about that? Thanks very much

As Mike said, make sure you aren't using "Wheel cleaner's" that are harsh, it's best to wash wheels just like the rest of your car - soap and water. They are just painted after all, then wax em up once in awhile.
As for correcting the current problem, see what the dealer says - then go have them powdercoated if the deny the coverage (likely outcome).
Good luck!
