Nice custom job. You should now patent your design and market it to the IS masses. It'll be worth the 10hrs of labour you committed to it's production.

But hey, kikaida, what's bumping the heat up gonna do? This is mig welded so that's why there's all the splatter. Can't really do anything about that
You should have nicer bead, more penetration and less "splatter."

It's correct the car doesn't have struts, so all this is doing is basically putting a solid bar across the trunk.

I said it would offer no measurable performance improvement, and I believe that's the case. Take it to a track, get an independent driver to do runs with and without, and I suspect you'll see 0 improvement in times. Once you'd already done every other possible mod to improve traction and handling (sway bars, real race tires for example, coilovers that were adjusted for optimal possible performance with corner balancing and whatnot, etc) then I could maybe buy getting a very very tiny additional measurable improvement from chasis reinforcement... not before though as there's so many other actual suspension/traction bits that would need improvement before chassis flex was really an issue.

That doesn't mean you won't get some psychological/feel improvement by bolting it on, but it won't actually improve objective handling like a sway bar would, since it's not actually attached to any part of the cars suspension.

Your chassis must be really flimsy if you noticed a good amount of decrease in body roll.

You don't need a TIG welder to make nice weld. Practice on a MIG first and once you've mastered it, then move onto the TIG. It's the welder behind the mask that makes the beads look nice, not the equipment

Powdercoat that bish....
Im not an expert but what kurtz says makes sense. For this to make difference you would have to work all the way from the ground up, starting with real sticky tires, all kinds of bars, stiffer springs, etc. Not having all these, the car will give up before this bar would make a difference.
