TL or IS

I bought an 07' TL back in 2007 and it turned out to be a LEMON!!! After fighting with Honda for about 6 months and going through the mediation process, they bought it back and gave me my money back...so I went to the lexus dealer and got my 06'
IS350! Couldn't be happier..def. go with the IS! Its so much more fun than a TL anyways!

In 06 I test drove the 350 and fell in love but dealers were charging more than msrp. I ended up leasing a 06 TL for 4 years. Great car. When my lease was up I test drove the accord, G35 and an audi a4. Luckily I saw an IS350 and flashbacked to 06. I test drove the 350 and knew it was my car. I wanted to only do a private party and IS350's were tough to find in my price range/miles/time frame. I went with a silver/bl w wood grain (all over- front vents, door *****, etc- more than others I have seen).
Now 6mths later, I am still in love w 350. I am disappointed with recalls but great FAST car.
I know lexus has options but hard to find used w color/price...
I miss - bluetooth, heated seats, HIDs, mem seats, HEADROOM (6'1), rear legrm, tilt side mrs, BUT the 350 speed puts a smile on my face each time I punch it
At first I was not a fan of the r wheel drive and handling but the fsport r sway made it better.
Gripes
Paint chips easy, headroom, recalls- atleast lexus takes care of it

Since I'm a big guy I lean toward the TL. The IS is just too small for me. Also, I've seen several TL's around town that when hooked up right, are equal to the IS in looks.
The front wheel drive thing is a problem but so is the IS small size so that makes the cars even.
I love Lexus cars but they aren't perfect and aren't the only choice out there.
Actually, I wouldn't choose either of these cars for myself. In this price range I'd go for the Infiniti G37. I love coupes.

I looked at Acuras. The TL has something (remotely) attractive about it but overall I find the exterior body style to be just weird, something about the lines. Acura designers used to be very in touch with style, but over the last few years they really lost me. That big silver grille... was that inspired by their kids braces or something? What were they thinking.
My IS250 is poised to go down in history of one of the greatest cars I've ever owned. I have owned BMWs, Porsches, many others. Those that need a dragster are going to ask how a IS250 can compare. Well I guess I'm beyond racing at this point, and I consider the total experience of the car. I am averaging 27 MPG combined hwy+city,(the trip computer reads a little higher but I think its optimistic), yet I've got more than enough horsepower. Off the line you will know right away it's not a fast car, but what is not obvious until you own one is that for daily driving situations, it has way more get up and go than you need to pass some douchebag or whatever. What it lacks in "melt the tires on take-off" torque it more than makes up for on the interstate, the power curve is perfect for my driving style, and I am amazed that this car gets better mileage than a 4 cylinder honda accord I had in the early 90s, yet has tons more power, and a way more comfortable, high quality solid feel to it. The IS350 is a great car too if you need more power, although with a 250 you are basically getting a 20% discount at least every time you visit the gas pump for a fill up.
Now I said "one of the greatest cars I've owned". It is king of the hill right now, I said that knowing that I could potentially find a new favorite in the future, but right now this is it.

I, for one, have made this switch. I had my dear IS 250 for 2 years (bought brand new) and had to sell it for a few reasons:
1) Car would continue to pull to the right even after several fixes by the dealership (did 4 wheel alignment, new tires). There's been discussion on this forum about this issue, and maybe mine was just a bad apple.
2) With a growing family, the IS wasn't practical anymore (I would have held on to the car if not for reason #1)
Didn't consider the IS 350 because of the valve springs recall and interior space. It was down to the Infiniti G37, and Acura TL SH-AWD 6 spd manual. The TL is truly a different car with the 6 spd manual. Ended up buying a Palladium Metallic (Silver) 2010 TL SH-AWD 6 spd manual because of the interior space/power/financial incentives Acura was offering on this model. Plus, the fact that you can use the navigation while driving is a huge plus. Feels liberating

Honda/acura quality is not what it used to be 10 years ago. u used to be able to put gas in it and change the oil as needed and not have any issues. iv had 5 diff hondas over the years and my family has hondas and id say after 2004 their quality took a backseat to them taking advantage of their popularity and have been padding their pockets with the savings. bt too bad for them they pissed me off with my last honda i get a new car every 2 years i had a 2006 civic si i drove the car 6k miles a year changed the oil every 3 months and when i got rid of it i had 23pages of service history in the honda system. i had so many issues with everything in the car. rattles, panels scratching if i look at them and not to mention the nationwide petition for the transmisson issue that they claimed did not exist. i had them change the trans fluid every time i had the oil changed. and finally when they had a tsb for the transmission it still didnt fix it i had enough and the paint chips so easily the front of my car looked like crap. and i went and got my lexus. all i can say is what a pile.and i had the battery replaced and the car was 2 years old. my mom has a 09 CRV and shes had to replace the headlight housings twice due to faulty seals and condensation getting in them. and just a week ago her battery went out, never again for me they lost me forever
