You might not get the recall notice then. However all you need to do is call any Lexus dealer and the service advisor will be able to look at your VIN to determine what recall is listed for your particular vehicle.

All you have to do is call Lexus Customer service at 1-800-255-3987 and tell them you are the new owner, you want to be put into the system so that you can receive any kind of mailings.

While you are talking to them, tell them you want the service records for your car too!! I did that and got any info avail on my car within thee days!! That way you will know what was done on your car so far.

Just be prepared with your VIN and you should be good.

Yep! I did that and also requested what is called a "Port and Factory Installed Equip" list.

It's like the window sticker that tells you what exactly your car has but with more details. They sent it to me free.

And the lady was soooo nice!!

Edit: In regards to service records...they only have what was done at Lexus dealerships. So any other work at Joe Schmoes in Chattanooga won't show on the report.

Another preemptive voluntary recall. Most other car mfgs would just blame it on normal wear and tear especially on 5 year old cars. Luckily Toyota is owning up or at least the supplier of the parts.

FYI- you can register your car with the VIN at Lexus.com and it'll show you any applicable recalls... don't even need to call em.

This recall affects all Canadian models too as posted on Lexus.ca . Sigh. Now I have to head back to the dealer yet again for another recall problem. When I did the valve spring recall, all the technicians were drooling over my car and even one customer. At least I'll get a free brake flush out of this inconvenience.

Lexus Announces Intent to Voluntarily Recall Certain Lexus GS 300, IS 250, IS 350 and RX 330 Vehicles to Replace a Brake Master Cylinder Seal

TORONTO, Ontario, October 21, 2010 - Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI), today announced that it will conduct a Voluntary Safety Recall involving approximately 28,700 vehicles - 2005 through 2006 Toyota Avalon, 2004 through 2006 Toyota Highlander (Non Hybrid) and Lexus RX 330, and 2006 Lexus GS 300, IS 250, and IS 350 vehicles sold in Canada. The campaign will address the possibility that a small amount of brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp.

The brake fluid used by Toyota during vehicle assembly for vehicles sold in Canada contains polymers. The polymers act as lubricants for certain brake system components. If during vehicle maintenance, brake fluid is used that does not contain such polymers or only small amounts, a part of the internal rubber seal (brake master cylinder cup) located at the end of the brake master cylinder piston may become dry and may curl during movement of the piston. If this occurs, a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder into the brake booster, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp.

If the brake warning light has illuminated and the vehicle continues to be operated without refilling the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir, the driver will begin to notice a spongy or soft brake pedal feel and braking performance may gradually decline.

Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail beginning in mid-November 2010. Toyota and Lexus dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cup with a newly designed one at no charge to the vehicle owners.

Detailed information and answers to questions are available to customers at the Toyota Customer Interaction Centre at 1-888-TOYOTA-8 or Lexus Canada at 1-800-26 LEXUS or 1-800-265-3987. Additional vehicle safety information is available at www.toyota.ca or www.lexus.ca.

You guys probably don't need to rush over to the dealerships yet, considering this was announced yesterday I doubt they have the parts ready for the recall

my car has 46K on it and lately i have noticed sometimes at ideal it starts to sputter like its going to stall but then when i gas it, its fine. Do you think this would be part of the fuel recall ? I checked on Lexus.com and it doesn't say i have any recall's.

Man this sucks, i have 11/06 model and never have i been given letter about recalls (from memory).

I don't like dropping my car into dealers or any mechanics, cos they won't let me see what they are doing...

I have aftermarket HID and i DO NOT want them to mess this up. How serious is this brake thingie and what to do with the other recalls?

Maybe i should register with lexus.com and see what affects my car..
