From what i heard, he had a open diff, too much power to one wheel and once it caught traction it caught and too much power caused him to spin out.
and,
they said he was boosting way too much and people told him to turn it down but he didn't or something like that.
It was a sad site, but i didnt see it i can't imagine what he is going through right now. I also heard that he was super nervous before he took off.

Awesome meet! You guys can go into the SoCal subforum for more pics.
Yeah, major downer about the SC, but thankfully Steve is okay. I was 1 or 2 cars behind in the drag strip queue and remember just hearing a pop followed by "Ohhhhhh." I thought an engine blew at first until I saw the car pieces strewn about the track.

i was that guy sitting w/ johnson, jeff, and vince at the dinner saturday night...
and the same guy that you parked next to when you pulled into irwindale (before lining up for tech inspection) and commented about your GT-F's and how nice the polished lips on your wheels were...
i think you were standing next to glen before the driver's meeting too when i came over to say hello?
anyways, it was great to meet you. your car is coming along quite well. hope you get that little "dimple" taken care of.

^ Ohhhh, cool! It was nice meeting you. It's so hard keeping real names, CL names and the cars all properly stored in my head. 
Yeah, I was standing next to Glen before the drag strip instructions.
The dimple is getting taken care of this week hopefully.
