Default HELP! Center vents not working, blinking front defrost light

Hey all,

I dug up an old post from 2008 with this EXACT same problem. No air out of front vents or floor vents....no matter the setting, comes out front defrost and rear only. The last person to have this problem did the nav hack and I was fixing my wiring for my Flyaudio unit so HAS to be something as simple as a wire. Can anyone help!!!

I'm having the same issue on a 2011 IS after the Navi\DVD bypass. Did you ever find a way to fix this?

oh crap.....that sucks. At least your entire nav unit didnt go kaput like mine did after I did the bypass. Had to buy a whole new unit.

Anyway, did you disconnect the battery and/or pull the tv1 fuse? Quite often, there will be some stored up juice in a capacitor that will cause a short if multiple wires are cut at the same time.

I purchased the Prestigious society part so did not need to cut any wires.

I'm having this problem too, just the orange blinking defrost light.

I haven't noticed any changes in the air temperature or direction...

Has anyone figured out what the problem with this is? I have an '06 IS350 without any kind of modifications or upgrades. The flashing defroster light happened to me a few times in December (no big deal cuz it was only 60-70deg), but now that it's summer and 110deg, I can't live without my AC its done this 3 or 4 times in the last 2 weeks each time when I'm leaving work after my car has been baking in the sun all day. If i turn off the car and restart it, by the 3rd or 4th restart it resets and I can finally turn the air on. I had the oil changed and the cabin filter replaced in January (o/c light just came on yesterday so I'll be taking it in tmrw). Not sure if this is worth dropping a few hundred on to have Lexus look at it only to tell me they don't know what's wrong. FWIW my car has just over 80k miles on it.

Turn your car on, turn the aircondition as low as it goes so its blowing hard. There is a button for air circulation from inside to outside air. Change from inside air to outside air. If when on inside air flow, the air blowing should be much stronger than outside air flow. If the air flow does not change, someone broke the HVAC door when changing the cabin air filter. You can confirm this by opening the glove box, remove the T divider that the owners manual sits on. Then remove the rectangle black door. Look inside, if the white HVAC door moves up and down by gently moving it with your hand, they broke it when changing the cabin air filter.
