My used Lexus IS250 has a soft, sticky dash that scratches and mars easily.

Default Cracked last week

Dash has been perfect, since put in operation 3/14/2006. Last week got in the car was driving down the road, normal, looked over and big ol' crack from top corner of vents over to the side of the instrument cluster hood.

may call Lexus but hesitant, because they will want to do all of the recalls (most not needed). It has been cold here. 44k miles annoyed.
Lexus must have used the same crappy plastic on the dash as they used for the Headlights, which are turning a 'nice' gold-ish tint. More annoyed.

ok so i took my car into lexus of conchord to see if they could help me out with my DRL disable (they did so that was pretty cool of them) he asked me if i bought the car the way it is. (i've plasti dipped my emblems, front grille, chrome door trims and smoked the tail lights and lower rear reflectors.) i told him yes thats how it was when i picked it up. i asked if he knew anything about the soft, sticky dash and the upper part of my door panels which are doing the same thing as the dash. he then told me that the previous owner obviously plasti dipped those interior black pieces and that is what is causing the stickiness (complete bull he's trying to feed me.) and that my original interior color was the light tan with dark blue pieces that were plasti dipped black. is there a lexus dealership in norcal that someone has had a good experience with getting their dash replaced?

its a 2006 IS250 thats well out of warranty.

Has any temporary or an effective solution been discovered for this problem. I have a windshield strip but when the Sun hits the dash just right it reflects on the glass and it makes it very hard to see out. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this similar issue.

Hey guys check out this article about our melting dashboards:

http://www.wptv.com/money/consumer/d...mazda-vehicles

I am hopeful that this issue will be recalled so please take the time to file the complaint through NHTSA

Good find. I've had older vehicles with a cracking dashboard, but the melting dashboard is a whole different animal. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has/had a strong chemical smell in the car after sitting in the sun...in the very least this needs to be tested to make sure it's safe for infants/children.

I have a Nissan Altima that has this same problem. I'm wondering if this is being caused by Meguiar's kwik interior detail cleaner or Mother's VLR. I used both of those products in the past. I have since washed the dash and started using aerospace 303. I'll find out this summer if this resolves my problem. As I stated in an earlier post, I never attempt to clean the dash or top door trim when they are hot and sticky.

This issue is pretty widespread now. It's time Toyota and Nissan own up to it IMO.

Really? Do you have a pic of it handy? I have a friend battling her dealership with a sticky dash and is losing.

Guys I've made a Facebook post on the https://www.facebook.com/JennStrathman regarding the news story http://ow.ly/wobak. On my post I provide all the contact information I found so far. I've also found a possible class action lawsuit signup here http://www.consumerclassactionlawyer...dashboard.html .
